It is SPH bill!
Electricity 45kWH = 13.26
Gas 16kWH = 3.39
Water = 9.95 (5.60 is 2 sanitary app. fee)
Refuse = 5.43
Water conservation tax = 1.05

About 11 is fixed costs (refuse & sanitary)! I cannot reduce them! However, if the environment council were to recommend scrapping the sanitary appliance fee and moving this fee into water conservation tax! This way, it will benefit low water user like me and penalizes high water usage household! I expect $4-5 savings per mth for me! Some proposal like this will benefit lots of resources saver like me!

My bill? $65 max

5 people and 1 dog. swee boh.

We cook only on weekends. Turn on air-con only once every 2 months. Dog bathes twice a week. Humans bathe at least once everyday. Only have 1 TV, switched on for about 4 hours everyday because of 2 teenage siblings. 2 laptops switched on for 3 hours each everyday too. Wash clothes via washing machine daily.

My own bill is about $120-$150 for 2 adults + 1 baby. Works out to about $40-50 pax...hahahha

I guess for baby, you need a lot more water. (Boiling hot water for utensil sterilization purposes)

I guess for baby, you need a lot more water. (Boiling hot water for utensil sterilization purposes)

Contemplating thermal pot or induction type cooker (induction heat transfer is 70 to 80% as compared to using gas).

Bought a thermal pot for my in-laws cos they make soup everyday and family members keeps coming back at odd hours requiring re-heating! Google and find that some household can save 20 to 30 of gas per month! Will verify that claim few months later!

No! Watch TV for at least 3 hrs a day weekfays, at least 8 hrs on weekends, uses notebook for couple of hours (battery is charged in company though)! Uses my samsung i600 phone to surf net! Uses instant heater for shower! Basically all my appliances mains is switched off except fridge and HDD recorder! Cook mainly on weekends! I only have a energy-savings light (25W) fr evening to night! Everyday, also charges my robot vacuum cleaner for 6hrs! Wash clothes twice a week!

My household constantly exceed $100 bucks on the power bills.

Living in a 4 room flat and according to the national average at the back of the bill, it shows that the national average is 389kWh and 19.2CuM.

I am at 220 Kwh and 12.4CuM. I thought i am already doing well!

Try turning off all mains, except yr fridge, recorder, devices necessary! Replace or modify all extension cord with those without light bulbs (showing it is ON). I turn off my air-con ledge mains even!

LED light consume energy else it will not light up. The amount is small, it is for those wanting to save the even minute qty of energy.

Why dont u list yr appliances? Go thru the link a few thread before this.

my typical monthly bill for electricity, gas and water is about $80 for 2 adults for a 5 room flat. We don't have air con. It used to be lower until the price hike, which the $@#$^@#$ minister claim not related to oil prices but pegged to national average wage...bs....

My contribution for this thread. If you need medicine (a fact in modern living), buy them when you go to JB.

It is one of the items the MY gahment sees as a necessity and don't tax it a lot. Both original and generic medicine are cheaper than SG. However, please go to a legitimate pharmacy. Guardian and Watson's are proper legit pharmacies there but if you know your way around, My Pharmacy is a legit pharmacy that sells medicine cheaper. The savings can be as big as 60% inclusive of the exchange rate.

Don't use aircon? Use fan blowing directly at you. That's what I've been doing all year. I think I switch on the aircon only once or twice a quarter.

frankly its even more practical if u dun install the aircon in the 1st place.. save even more...


here is wat i do.... i have a few laptops around the house... charge them fully while using it... once it 100% charged... switch the power off.. u will have 2 - 3 hours of batt before u need a charge again.

Would it be less efficient to do that, as compared to just directly plug into mains w/o battery?

Considering that when you convert electrical energy to chemical energy (mains to battery) and vice versa (battery to electrical), there will be a loss in energy during the conversion.
