black bezel area was a bit hot. But I consider anything uncomfortable to leave my hand on hot. But it is slightly cooler than the U2711. That is one hot monitor... I don't care about the U2711 as the Dell warranty is like a rock, but have to baby this one a bit more. Don't plan on shipping back to Korea hopefully.

Its a simple mod. Two zip ties, attach blue led 120mm fan to the two convenient holes on the top of the stand. Have it blowing on the monitor rather than away. The fan doesn't vibrate cause the voltage is quite low and so its completely silent. I didn't realize the led was so bright. Its quite the glower at night but completely unnoticeable during the day.

Had to turn off the monitor because the light meter on the phone camera would over compensate for the bright screen

This is quite nice. But since my PC is in my bedroom ... I would want it to be as dark as possible.

Guys a quick question:
How to enable 2560x1440 display?

Currently I'm running the new card on native 1680x1050 on my 22" samsung using dvi (non-d) cable. I just bought a new card for my crossover monitor, the latest asus 650gtx for $200 plus yesterday and installed and updates the drivers etc but the highest it can go (as in the pull down options) is 1680x1050. I know my samsung monitor can only go to 1680x1050 but I just want to see the option to go 2560x1440. The asus card support 2560x1440

ASUS - Graphics Cards- ASUS GTX650-DCT-1GD5

Do I need to connect the new monitor and use dvi-d cable then the option to choose 2560x1440 will appear? The crossover monitor does not come with a CD driver right?
I'm using win7x64.

RIP my crossover :s22:
exactly 3mths of usage
last night my 27Q LED screen flickered for a bit.. when i power on today the screen is black. it recognises the signal from my graphic card since it changed to blue colour. I tested it with another monitor on the same port, it works fine but not the Crossover.

send a message to the seller? one year warranty on these things right? i mean, are you gonna just throw the thing away after three months?

i mention this because mine was just delivered today- havent had time to test it yet but i imagine I would not just let a monitor go like that after three months.

Let us know how things go!

Maybe I should hold off my purchase first and see how is the after sales support.

Even-though it is almost half the price compared to Dells' offerings. A 5 year warranty is much better than a "no warranty".

o oh.. sad to hear..
Although i have zero experience on this, i am suspecting the inverter board (if there is one) to be faulty.. how about borrowing another power adaptor from a bro here to try?..

u mean the power adaptor is faulty? Hmm can't be.. it works fine and showed whether there is a video signal or not. dost likely backlight spoil.

doubt its the power supply. Either the pcb board or backlight (although it would be strange for all the backlights to fail at the same time). Both you're going to have problems finding in Singapore unless you can strip another Crossover or get the seller to ship it over to you.

What you can try to check is power on the monitor with a signal and flash a torchlight on the screen. If you can see the faint ghosting of the screen display (it'll be very dim) that means the pcb board can still out put display but something is wrong with either the backlight or the signal to the backlight.

By the way, if your warranty doesn't pull through or the seller makes you jump through hoops, I may want to purchase the monitor for spare parts just in case.

Sorry to hear. These things run hot and you know heat is the death of electronics. Also could be the crappy power adapter providing a fluctuating voltage current which will also burn out components quickly. When it gets hot (tested by heating the adapter on my heatsink), the voltage jumps a bit according to my multimeter. The adapter is a pure POS.

But do bear in mind considering the number of people who have bought, not that many people have flooded into this forum reporting problems. People with Dell's 27" and Samsung 27" also have lemons but they get replaced quickly with onsite repair/replacement so they kick up less of a fuss.

A lot of the issues with no signals etc, dead screens were adapter issues, people not using the dual dvi slot or not flicking the switch on Radeon cards.

@wisperknot

yes you are right.. flashing a torchlight makes the words visible on the screen.. i cant notice it at all without torchlight . i'll wait for the seller's reply before deciding whether to sell it or not. thanks for your reply! :)

Good advice from wisperknot.

If u can see your pc wallpaper using the torchlight test that indicates that the signal/logic board is working. It could be problem with the power board or inverter board.

Hope u will get a replacement set from ur seller

I would really stay away from tempered glass. This just means that there's a high chance you will have dust or other particles stuck in between the glass and the screen.

People have reported flecks of dust, one person even had an ant sandwiched between the screens. These don't seem to be built in a clean room hence the poor qc.

just want to reiterate. This is a great value if you don't mind trouble shooting a bit. If you're completely computer illiterate and don't want to deal with possibly adjusting the cable, or your video card, or in a worst case scenario, opening your monitor to just check for loose connections, I'd stay far far away.

On the other hand, you can get two of these for less than a single Dell 27" and I have the U2711 side by side with the Crossover 27Q. Picture quality is subjective of course, but I honestly feel that the Matte screen of the Dell makes the screen much less impressive than the Crossover. I don't have an Apple 27" but I've heard that there's little difference between the two just in image comparisons.

Also my screen doesn't face a window. Its at a 90 degree angle and even with the afternoon light, glare is not that big an issue to me.

Wouldn't mind getting another 1 to do eyefinity. :) So those who regret, contact me.

I'm using win7x64.

You can only see the option after you connect to your monitor to the gfx card.
