Monitor recommendation

I am considering 30+ inch, 4k monitor to replace my dell u2312hm.
interested in acer X34 for its spec but wanted to wait for x34p. but no news for x34p in CES and reddit posts saying it probably being delayed till late this yr. so dont want to wait any more...

but i am also not sure whether I should get a curved monitor and gaming monitor or not..
wasabi mango 32inch selling at below 600sgd. i am not sure whether i should pay double the price to get better color, refresh rate, GSync and immersive experience brought by curve.

I played COD, Batterfield1, Need for Speed, fifa and NBA. Budget-wise, can afford x34 by installment but better if cheaper models provide 'close' gaming and movie watching experience....

pls advise ur thoughts!

As far as i know, you cannot play fullscreen on x34 with Fifa.. widescreen is not supported and probably never will. There will be black bars on the sides.

The x34 is a great monitor but why buy a depreciating asset like a computer monitor by instalment?

You can get a great experience with the Acer 1440p 144Hz G Sync display which will cost quite a bit less. Sorry I forgot the model number. XB271H...something. I think its a great deal (only thing you lose is ultra wide) but i think it does cost quite a bit less. There is a 4K Gsync 60 Hz version same size with a similar model number too

If you need larger sizes, there are 40 inch 4K monitors but I'm not sure how many have GSync

i just google, it seems fifa17 support 21:9?

if it does then good.. up to the point i sold my x34 it was not supported.. that time still Fifa 16

Hmm, I just looked up Lazada and the XB271HU costs about $1,199. About $200 difference from the X34...

Any way I am also looking for a new monitor like OP, but I am still debating whether to go 1 x ultra wide or 2 x QHD...

but sadly only COD and BF benefit much for above 60fps, the rest is only locked fps (not sure for fifa though)

I do want larger size than 27 especially i am using a 24 inch now.
40 inch is a bit too much, my table not big enough

I came across LG34UC88, 34UC98 and similar models, it seems they are quite ex in SG as compared to acer X34? and LG monitors dosnt have GSync but only free Sync? although GSync is not my primary consideration. any recommendation for lG models?

Could consider LG 34inch ultra Wide monitor also?

why? I spent the last few days' free time playing NFS. think it's great

actually frame rate is not my primary concern, i can settle with 60Hz..but i think other curved, 4k, 30+inch monitors are at similar price as Acer X34?..do correct me if I am wrong

yeah google says fifa16 doesnt support but 17 does

i would go get acer x34 for more real estate plus its not so taxxing on graphic.. if after a few weeks suddenly realise dont like the monitor can easily sell. the only thing holding me back is my graphic card.

Depends a lot on the game. Doom can be close to 100fps at ultra detail settings. Dishonored 2, i was getting 70+ average. BF1 on max detail, struggle to get 60fps at max settings (in multiplayer..probably cpu limited).

With current GPU tech, i think 1440p or 1440 ultrawide is where the sweet spot is.

I only have GTX980Ti... another reason why I am thinking of sticking to 1440p for gaming.

gtx1080 should still do ok for x34's resolution.

If you are thinking of paying by installments, immediately discard that idea even if it's interest free. Only spend cash on things that you can afford. If you don't have enough to purchase it now, then practise financial discipline to wait until you have enough before buying it. Being in debt is bad in the long run. Sure it seems fine now because you don't have to pay so much, but this incurs a recurring cost every month and after a while that shiny new thing sitting in your room will start to lose its splendour and after 2 years maybe you will start thinking of purchasing something else with the mindset 'its been 2 years since I bought something for myself' when in actual fact, you haven't even paid off the cost of purchasing something that was beyond your means. It's a downward spiral that you don't want to start.

30+inch for 4k is too small. you will end up using 150% scaling which becomes like having 1080p screen. buy at least 40inch and use 100% scaling for more screen estate
