If you are thinking of paying by installments, immediately discard that idea even if it's interest free. Only spend cash on things that you can afford. If you don't have enough to purchase it now, then practise financial discipline to wait until you have enough before buying it. Being in debt is bad in the long run. Sure it seems fine now because you don't have to pay so much, but this incurs a recurring cost every month and after a while that shiny new thing sitting in your room will start to lose its splendour and after 2 years maybe you will start thinking of purchasing something else with the mindset 'its been 2 years since I bought something for myself' when in actual fact, you haven't even paid off the cost of purchasing something that was beyond your means. It's a downward spiral that you don't want to start.

i think it's a matter of perspective too. I hate to part with one time big sum of money as i will see my balance suddenly drop a lot. Thus i prefer to pay a bit over 6 or 12 months, 6 months if possible.
Having said that i also limit to how many purchases i have by installment at one time so that i will not over commit the future spendings.

The question to ask when you pay by instalment, is, if one day suddenly you lose your job for e.g. are you able to settle all your outstanding debts at one go. If the answer is no, means you are over stretching yourself and should not do it.

true to that, provided the installment is interest free, if not do it in one short

Haha, I've been keeping track of my inflow and outflow after reading a lot of reddit /r/personalfinance . I have a category called Guilt free money XD of which I contribute a small portion of my monthly salary to after budgeting for other categories like retirement, investment, expenses, emergency etc.

In guilt free money category, I can buy anything, guilt free. LOL.

i forgot to add one point which i dunno read from where is that if it's REALLY interest free, then by paying installment, the money that is owing can be free up for other purpose like investment..

How is it a big sum of money? Assuming X34 $1499? And if it makes a significant dip to one's account balance then I really suggest to hold off that purchase.

If you already set aside that money but do not want to see it go at once, then just go for interest free installment. That money is already allocated anyway.

But if you already allocated that money, just pay at one shot. Because if you use installment, you won't be getting any points for your purchase, which is disappointing cos that mean you lose out on alot of points.

True dat, a dollar today is worth more than a dollar tomorrow. Although how many people actually invest that extra dollar hahaha

can easily sell?

i not sure if my gtx1080 can handle 60+fps gaming on acer x34 after one year..

I am using 980ti in SLI with Acer x34.

- Witcher 3 max settings: 60+ FPS
- Witcher 3 default ultra settings: 70+ FPS
- Witcher 3 default ultra settings (Hairworks off): 80+ FPS

- Watch dogs 2 default ultra settings: 50+ FPS
- Watch dogs 2 max settings: 10+ FPS. LOL

When i switch to my other monitor which is 2560x1440p I get additional 10 FPS in Watch Dogs 2.

I think in this case, the 10+ FPS drop is worth it for the extra screen estate, immersion and eye candy? :D

thanks for all the input for installment!

since i am now saving a fair portion of monthly salary, a small portion for personal interest and that portion summing up in one is ard the cost of x34, so my idea was by using installment, i can free up additional cashflow to invest a bit..
plan to repay in a yr and a monitor should last me at least 3yrs
but true that i wont have anymore 'disposable' cash. the pc and monitor drain up all for the yr:mad:

X34p Released

looks like the X34p is released in Australia, hopefully, there is not too much longer to wait now in SG?

Retail is 1700AUD from PCCG.

Anyone know of plans to start with the X34P or likely stockists/predictions on prices?

thanks

X34p great price

Hey guys, found the x34p on a special over at q0010 - Official acer store

I can't link the price due to my rank, but the official acer store there has it marked down from $1,698.00 to $1,198.00! just search x34p.

I just picked up 2x and they have a further $88CNY promotion for $1,200.00
so $2,306.00 for both.

just what I was looking for, not sure how much stock they have of these

good luck:s22:
