Monitor Repair in Sim Lim?

Hey

I own a Samsung 2493 HM monitor. After 3 years, its starting to flicker. Any good and reliable monitor repair shops in Sim Lim?

Not sure about SLS but I heard of some of the neighbourhood shop charging $50-80 just for the service charges.

Just curious. The screen starting to flicker, then how about the Power LED?.. Is it stable? If u On longer will the flicker go away?

If u are brave enough, why don't you open it up & check whether there are bloated capacitors on it?. Personally i have not done this model before but the tendency of it having faulty/bad capacitors on the Power supply board is high.

the only way to confirm this is to swap a known good bulb lor. but based on his description of the failure, i think more or less the power supply board is causing it.

Hi.

Are you asking for a shop where you can sent the monitor & do the repair?. If yes, i am not really sure coz i do monitor repairs myself.

If u are brave, u can open it up & replace the capacitors
yourself.
If u need me to do it for u, can PM me to discuss further. I did a few of this 226bw models before.

I've got a 19" Samsung monitor that's too good to throw away. The only problem is that the power supply to the monitor is screwed. Model No is SyncMaster 913v.

It depends.

If just to replace all capacitors, except the Big one, will cure it then yes, it is worth repairing. If backlight faulty, not worth repairing. Without describing specifically what is wrong with your monitor, it is difficult to judge. It is like asking me to predict the result of Liverpool-Manu game this coming sat.. ..

As far as i know, No.
Likely to be panel issue. But i could be wrong though..
I am guessing here, but is your monitor Phillips brand?

I then have to turn it on again to get the image on my screen.

Recently, the power button on the monitor has been seen to turn from a dark colored blue to a light colored blue, while no images are present on the screen.

What might be the problem? And is it worth repairing?

Just to clarify. So now, when u turn on there is blank screen with blue LED? Can u see your PC wallpaper if u shine a torchlight on the blank screen?..

By the way u describe it, likely capacitors are the problem of the monitor.

For the size of your monitor, yes, it is worth to repair it. Take your pick from :
1) If u r game, open it up & replaced ALL the electrolyte capacitors (except the Big one). This is the cheapest fix.
2) Pay someone (like me... hhehee) to repair it for you.
3) Spent $$ & sent it to the shop. From what i heard, it will start from $60+ onwards.

Just to highlight that not EVERY spoilt monitor is repairable or is COST-EFFECTIVE to repair. I have a few units here, which i have bought as faulty, still stuck with me because either they are involving expensive parts, troublesome panel dis-assembly, unrepairable Logic card or defects/damages on the panel. I see a spider & cockroach nest in a making liao.. hahaha..

I have LG LCD monitor (L1970HR) and have been flickering whenever I boot my computer. It will flicker between 20 to 30 minutes before it stablise. It will remain so until it went into standby mode. Once I wake it up again it will start to flicker again for about 10 to 20 minutes before it stablise again.

Is it cost effective to repair this monitor?
