Surely? I am not counting
on the government to take care of retirement. Cpf is supposed to act independently to help us with our retirement but why do we have to withdraw OA monies for tbills and fixed deposit?

I hope cpf proponents find the inaction a wake-up call on how much they can rely on the government.
Inaction on CPF is a boon to those taking Hdb housing loan. So it cuts both ways.

the intention is to take care, but they never say take care to what level, or maybe they did but I don't know where they might state, but is definitely closer to sustenance level rather than luxury level, hence they encourage ppl to do top-up and stuff.

there's greater implications doing blanket uplift.
Based on an announcement that they made recently, I suspect that the cheng hu may be looking into how to adjust the formula for OA interest, without negatively impacting those on HDB loans .

In the meantime, I'm keeping fingers crossed that rates continue upwards , affect 10 year bond rate, and thus the SA and RA interest rate.
with inverted yield curve and possibly even more. very doubtful it will make 10y go up meaningfully

Currently SA and RA interest, usually the formula , = 3.81%.
It's based on 12 month average . So the bond yield has to stay above 3% for more months .

Well they should be more responsible for making sure our money is working harder for us if they are going to force us to contribute.

Not many people are proactive like folks on MM/SSI and their retirement is going to be a lot worse.

Actually, almost there. If rates don't gostan for say next 6 months, I think we might see slightly more than average of 3 %, thereby getting 4%+ for SA and RA

as much as it is almost there. need to look at grand scheme of things about what inverted yield curve is suggesting.

and is precisely because a lot of people don't care, can you imagine the consequences of not even instituting an enforced saving on tax payers.

and my last sentence remains.

I am not against cpf. Cpf should be more robust and schemes like LRIS should have been implemented long long time ago.

Walau eh. Does it mean that I criticise cpf means I think cpf should be abolished???

i didn't say that. i am trying to suggest another angle as to why it might not be so straight forward

US 30yr TBond price just shot up guys. Lol

The rate hike has claim its biggest victim to date, SVB. I am quite sure that rate hike cannot go on any longer, those guys at the Fed need to observe longer before aggressive hiking of rates.

Powell wants to hike interest rate until something breaks and causes inflation to go down to 2%.

I foresee interest rates needs to hit 15% before something breaks. Once break, will need to wait 12-18 month before this collapse
