thanks for the map.. but u still need to make any payement ?

Do u know how early we have to book the accomodation if we want ?

thinking to climb slowly and stay overnight to see the sky !

No need to pay deposit or what. Just pay when u get there. Its better to book as early as possible. Aug will be more ppl as there is the summer break.

is that the full climb?

Thanks so much for sharing ! :s12:

Its the full climb on the route from 5th station at kawaguchiko.
There are 3 other trails if you want to try.
The one from Shizuoka side is also quite easy.

Hi All,

Will be in Tokyo for 2 weeks trip in early July. Couple of qns

1.) do i really need a guide to climb mt fuji? or can i just climb on my own? Free and Easy type, if i feel tired, just u-turn and head back?

2.) where to get reasonable-priced hiking clothings in Sg?

3.) can run 10km in 1hr, i assume still consider fit to climb mt fuji?

Cheers

2) unfortunately, u just missed the sports mega expo sale where they are selling lots of columbia and solomon stuff at super cheap price.
actually, u dun really need any special hiking clothes, just some comfortable dry-fit kind of shirt will do. wat is more important is probably cold wear coz it will get quite cold at the top. and of coz it will be good to have a good pair of hiking boots

3) climbing and running is quite different so it is best that u do some training on stairs or bukit timah, preferably with some weights (haversack with water bottles to simulate actual day load). u are already pretty fit to run 10km in 1hr, so it shldnt be that difficult to train up.
another thing to note is the altitude... even with reasonable fitness and sufficient training, the thinner air at higher altitude may be a challenge if u are not use to it.

disclaimer: i have not climbed mt fuji. what i have mentioned are general advice for trekking and are based on my other trekking trips =:p

1) no need guide. Just follow the crowd. Cannot u-turn until 8 or 8.5 station, once you are around 7th station, the area is too steep and you will block people who wants to go up.

3) shouldn't be a problem.

Hello, I'm planning to climb Mt Fuji on 7 Aug, anyone can confirm if wednesdays will be less crowded? And also how is Mt Fuji compared to climbing Kinabalu and Rinjani?

Note: If I can climb Rinjani for 4 days wearing just crocs, can I do the same for Mt Fuji? I really dun want to carrying around a heavy pair of boots in Japan just for 1-2 days of climbing, like I did during my Rinjani hike when my shoes got disgustingly soaking wet. But Rinjani was mostly large rocks and boulders though, except when going up the summit. What about Fuji?

due to time constraint, didn't go for the 2D/1N climb, but only 1 day tour to the 5th station.

weather was foggy, plus strong gail winds. It gave me a good idea how it is like. Will definitely go for it on my next biz trip.

Hi, I intend to go Mount Fuji during October(3rd wk). I am staying near Ikebukuro JR Station. Would like to check if there's any recommended tour I can follow or what's the best way to go there? I don't mind paying more for convenience. Your advise is greatly appreciated.

if u get the folding type it should be easy but those are ex. if you get the full stick i'm sure you will also be able to send it back but i dun think you can put it in ur luggage. maybe just carry on or pack it up nicely and check it in.

i think chengs21 is asking about the Fuji ones which can be 'stamped' at every station. alot of people like to collect those stamps

don't worry, you can get the stick trimmed once you get to Shingogome or wherever you reach once you descent Mt Fuji

or, you can get the mini stick (bout 2 ft) and tie it to ur bag. but u must be very careful about tell the person where to stamp coz there're about 25 stamps to collect (if u're planning to get them all)
