2 adults + 2 Primary school goers. Stay in mimaru tokyo ikebukuro
Nice. I stayed there in February.BTW on a clear day that's a view of Mt Fuji - go to upper floor, view from outside the lifts.

Some tours are from shinjuku. Those with hotel pickup don't go to ikebukuro. In the end I took this.
Had to pay yen5000 caught in bad traffic jam back to Tokyo. Exceeded by one hour.

No need. It’s direct.

Official website for the train.

https://www.jreast.co.jp/multi/en/routemaps/azusa_kaiji.html

Timetable shows 4 direct trains one way a day.

That’s strange. Shouldn’t be so unless you guys took Kaiji or Azusa train. I’m just stating what I’m understanding from the timetables, moreover it stated “valid on and after 16 Mar 2024”.

Best to book direct from the ticketing office. Staff will advise accordingly.

This is another one with timetable.

that's why I'm confused. most YTers done transfer at otsuki. JR & fujikyuko track doesn't seems to be connected unless it's using another route.

anyway i done day trip without using excursion still fine. if want to visit places better stay few days in fujikawako area.

excursion tix are hot, many booked few months ahead

I’ve only taken buses to all visits to Kawaguchiko. Faster, more frequency, and slightly cheaper.

Not familiar with the trains. Paiseh paiseh can’t help much.

How about booking a few days in advance when in the city? There’s four timings. Might have better luck on weekdays. But also gambling on weather conditions.

Staying in Kawaguchiko or other lakes (or other areas such as Kamakura/Izu) for a night or two, would also mean higher chance to catch the mountain in clear visibility.

Driver told me Fuji can be seen clearly average 90 days a year. Even in good weather there could be cloud covering. The day I went was raining throughout the day.

Check the weather forecast before booking
