Hi. Need to move out by mid-December to a rental place for a year, and was wondering what are the most efficient steps I need to start with.

1. Need boxes from mover company, how far in advance should I engage them and ask them to send over boxes so I can start packing?

2. Any recommendations for a good but reasonably priced moving company?

3. How far in advance do I need to cancel/port over my PUB/StarHub accounts from current to new place?

Other things that I need to do:
1. Change mailing addresses at police post, for banks, etc. etc.
2. Ensure I check moving days/timing at the new condo and schedule with movers
3. Anything else?

Change of address is done online at Ica.
You can call a few movers to quote.

The one I engaged gave me 30 boxes for free

I use Shalom Movers. More expensive but very professional

I beg to differ...

A new resident moved in, they caused a lot of problems by stuffing cardboard to jam open the lift doors and preventing other residents from using it - EVEN when they weren't using it.

They also damaged wall tiles in the lift lobby.

Thanks guys! Will call up these companies and ask for quotes.

Anyone on Senoko energy contracts for their power? Looks like I need to terminate contrAct with them, just shy of 3 months to hit the full 2 years. Need to pay penalty fee also, $300+. Any chance they can waive or move the account to the temp rental place at least?

Make sure you've free boxes from the mover company. Some charged quite a hefty sum just for boxes. Otherwise, go to supermarket and ask for them..

As for the energy contract, I would think its possible to shift it to a new address under the same name. Just check with them directly.

Disposing buy items in a condo is more costly than in a HDB, right? Have some furniture that I’m considering bringing along to the rental place that I’m not sure will make it to our new place eventually. Guess it’s the old “too heart pain to throw, cos condition still very good” syndrome. Lol

Carousell also not ideal for bulky item sales as transport is a separate cost/issue. Any solution other than just chucking these things out? Or else live in a super crowded rental place hahaha

Some condos like mine provide skip bin every festive season (Hari Raya , CNY, Xmas, Deepavali) for residents to dispose their bulky items themselves which is a huge plus.

They place it outside the condo boundary.
Check with your condo side If they have such initiative? If not, better not bring in.
