Sorry, sound and size are both determining factor for me. When I look for a laptop that costs over 1 grand USD, I desire the systems to be well designed. Not everyone has that much money to toss away and feeding the CEOs wallet fat. Though I realize nothing is perfect, I resent the fact about this and that defects. No, I am not going to spend on something that is costly yet lacks important aspects. A lot of laptops sound very, very bad, and I desire at least one, just one that sounds decent. I have done my homework. It is my own opinion, not yours. On top of that, I have heard other laptops that has a lot more better sounding system. If you look through my posts, I mention one that has the same height as this model and employs a pretty good sound. A deal breaking factor means a deal breaking factor. No more, no less.

You keep your own opinion, and I am entitled to mine as well, but you aren't helping out the community here. I was simply stating mine IMHO, thats why I mentioned "As I would call it." For future references, please try not to comment on other people's post with aggressiveness, trying to find flaws and assault people with your own logic. It is very rude and irrespectable to others, especially with someone with a "deluxe member" status as you, or whatever that is.

The best sound i ever heard from a laptop is asus N series. The refurb ones may cost about 1k usd

Agreed that forum should be open for people to express their opinion. Chill folks.

Anyway, it is also true that even high/ top end laptop end up with rather crappie speakers. There are obviously better ones like those I heard on my Samsung Chronos 7, and others like Toshiba's Harmon Kardon, and Asus' Sonic Master laptop speakers. But they are truely nowhere where we want them to be. I can safely say that laptop speakers are just good enough for its size, but for audiophile, its not gonna make the mark. :)

What is the one you are referring to? N56 or N550?

True, audiophiles are better off with a dedicated headphone, which is even more expenditures, and some cost as much as a laptop itself. The most expensive one I have come across during my findings is the Stax SR 009. And with a very good amp (assuming a full size tube amp), some can cost as much as a car...
As for laptops, the sound grade should at least achieve what is it worth. It's also not just sound, performance, the form factor, design principles, and the overall feel, everything should fall into place, each to their own expectation.

Nothing beats gaming with a proper wireless headphone.

What speakers does Chronos 7 uses? lmao, im actually slightly disappointed in my current machine, though the price comes at the cost of such monster gfx....

Its loud for sure, but sounds "flat" if you get what i mean....although having earphones, is still as always, the better way around things

Chronos 7 should be JBL, same brand as your Y500 and (former) dell XPS.

Hopefully feedback will reach them and they will improve it next year. Myself im still keeping fingers cross for a future 15-inch version, if it becomes reality i might consider it as my next notebook a few cpu generations down the road (they do have ge40 but imo the gs70 design is better and 14" is too smallfor me)

This Laptop is designed for gaming in an ultra-slim factor. As such, I expect a good screen, and good GPU and CPU performance. Any gamer worth a damn will use dedicated 5.1/7.1 headphones.

Horses for courses, if you are looking for great audio, buy a Laptop designed for audio. But to expect awesome audio from a slim gaming laptop... Well, whatever you are smoking, make sure to pass it around and share.
