MSI of Taiwan has recently ratted out the following specifications for its Wind notebook.

* 2.2 pounds
* Powered by Windows XP
* 80GB 2.5" hard drive
* 8.9" or 10" LCD display at 1,024 x 600 resolution
* 1GB RAM
* 7-hour battery life
* 1.0GHz to 1.6GHz processor range

Confirmed colors so far are white, blue, silver and pink. This is tipped to go up against the Asus Eee PC 900 which will hit the US this May. No idea on how much it will cost (estimates place it between $470 to $1,100, depending on the configuration), but Europe will receive the MSI Wind this June.

June 2008 MSI will release the MSI Wind Notebook that weighs approximately 1 kilogram, this makes it ideal for outdoor use. Living in the new age of the internet, users need to have an effective internet connection for professional and personal use. MSI offers the new Wind Notebook to meet the demands of modern people, by providing a lighter and more convenient notebook computer with a longer battery life.

The MSI Wind notebook will be equipped with an option of either Linux or Microsoft’s Windows XP operating system to provide a familiar platform to its users. The MSI Wind Notebook will also be equipped with Bluetooth 2.0 and a 1.3 Mega Pixel webcam, and will provide an 8.9” or 10” wide LCD display solution.

The embedded LED power-saving backlight technology will provide better colour richness and brightness. The 1024 x 600 resolution delivers full display of Web Pages while browsing, this gives users more freedom when exploring the internet. The MSI Wind notebook uses the same ergonomic keyboard as MSI’s larger notebooks. The keyboard not only has great texture, it also has increased space between the keys, allowing for a comfortable typing experience. Unlike other competitors that have compromised memory capacity, the MSI Wind Notebook is equipped with the 2.5 inch standard 80GB hard drive. This means that despite its size the MSI Wind Notebook can operate without the worry of insufficient storage capacity.

* Shipping Weight: 4.53lb

Technical Details
• ID / color - Black
• LCD - 10"W (1024*600) LED
• Chipset - 945GMS+ ICH7-M
• Webcam - 1.3M
• CPU - Intel 1.6G
• Memory - 1G (on Board)
• HDD - 80G

Lol perhaps we shouldn't have complained about Corbell in this thread.

No point moving this back to the Notebook section for now, though.

Er if you haven't noticed, the full specs of the MSI Wind that is going to be available in Singapore is in the first post of this thread. IMO it's more detailed than any other site that you can find.

Since everyone's bored of waiting for the MSI Wind, I thought I'd just post these "interesting pictures" that I saw at Engadget.

Here we have MSI Wind:

Here we have the Eee PC:

And here we have some Mac laptop:

MSI's picture is seriously wrong :s22:.
