It's one of your "de-facto" wi-fi WIND testers here..hehehe.. just downloaded this driver "WLAN Drivers for U100 (RTL8187SE)" as prior to that, i been using the BETA driver. so I wonder if anyone encountered any problem since dwnloaded the mentioned driver? as recently, I again experienced some "cut-off" again

anyone who bought from comex knows whether we're supposed to get 4400mah or 5200mah for 6 cell battery? i just collected a 4400mah from corbell this morning. realised something not right, so came online to check, seems like corbell is saying 4400mah is wrongly shipped by MSI, and that customers who collect 4400mah can exchange it for 5200 when the stocks are in?

Yep. Who ever heard of a 4400mAh 6-cell battery? The Eee PC's battery used to be 4400mAh and that was only 4 cells.

think it's $899 with 10% rebate for POSB Everyday card and free upgrade to 2GB ram.
Limited to 10 sets per store.

Was too busy last weekend. :-(

Windscreen Protector, pun unintended!

To those who are looking at protecting your Windscreen,

I spent last Saturday hunting for screen protectors and finally managed to find the only place that sells the 10.2". For those searching, they are available @ Newstead Accessories Level 3 Funan Centre. Look for Jenny, she's a great help.

thanks doody... I dwnld the driver via MSI site and tried out a short while at Braddell Mac this morning before head off to work.. the visual and the configuration look different as it don't seems to use the "window default' type... will update again

I would love it if they can deliver the 5200mAh batt but since the original 3-cell that came with the wind was only 2200mAh, would they say that 4400mAh is 6-cell?

No, the original specs for the 6-cell is supposed to be 5200mAh. Anyway the 5200mAh batteries will be arriving some time in the future - refer to the other Wind thread in the Corbell section.

anyone has any good laptop battery utility to recommend to calculate the battery life more accurately?

the one that comes with windows is pretty inaccurate sometimes i think and fluctuates too much.

This is my first post on HWZ. Bought the Wind U100 after Comex promotion so only got a 6-cell battery instead of 3+6 cell batteries.

Checked for latest U100 WLAN drivers at msi.com when I was trying to fix machine's erratic wifi connection & discovered they had several driver files posted there. Downloaded all 3 driver files provided & found on opening the RTL file that it was the wrong driver (Read Me file says to identify which WLAN card is installed on Wind before selecting appropriate driver). Anyway, my Wind is installed with the Ralink Tech b/g/n card so I needed the RT2700 driver. Pleased to report that after driver upgrade, it is connecting flawlessly with my N-router at home, even from the kitchen downstairs, which I can never do with my full-size notebook installed with Realtek b/g card. Shall go test out Wireless@SG hotspots this weekend.

Another problem I had was that the touchpad was not listed under Mouse in Control Panel and only ps/2 mouse was listed. Nonetheless, I assumed I had a Sentelic pad based on discussions in msiwind.net and went ahead to install the driver for Sentelic touchpad (finally found it after great difficulty in the U100 FAQ page in msimobile.com). Update has enabled me to scroll vertically using the 'hot' corners of the touchpad, but still can't configure other tap zones unlike the Synaptic touchpad.

Collected on Wed, using now very fine, I don even dl the disc given, any thing in the disc must dl, seem like boot up then can use liao. only the screen is too bright, even adjust the lower shine. Now looking for the darker screen protector, at the time being wear sunglasses to surf. heheee..................................

Didn't pay any attention to the brand, they all look the same, the only thing I remember is it comes in yellow packaging.
