This is a dilemma for generations of people worldwide. Old jobs disappeared and new jobs created. Gaps in skillsets need to be plugged. Older people do not have the newer skillets and may have to learn. It's very hard to almost impossible for older folks to learn. Government tried to help by introducing this skillsfuture plan. It's really up to individuals to decide if they want to give it a shot... Otherwise can only look for availability of older traditional jobs that are getting harder to come by.

Upskill wont guarantee you a job... this is why many people lazy to go for it. Bo guarantee one.

But if dont upskill, the world wont stop for you. You’ll just eventually become irrelevant and obsolete without any useful skill sets.

There are very very few skill sets that can withstand the test of time ba. If you have one of those then ok, maybe you’re set for life.

You cannot expect the world to slow down so you have a job... you can only keep up with the times lol.

That's right. So I don't see the point of complaining. Government trying to help. It may or may not help. Nobody will guarantee you a job. That's a weird mentality people have here asking people to guarantee you a job after training.

Individuals have to decide on their own.

In my opinion.. the auntie can still go for a "up skill" course, get that $1200 a month and see how it goes.

Sure or not? Her time got N-levels?

Anyway, these people are just pushing the ball, the lowly educated ones will suffer.

my father go look for job also asked to upgrade skill... seems like its their SOP.

Whenever someone try to find job, first thing is to upgrade skill and show them courses after courses. Whether the course useful, that one another story

We got to admit that we need lifelong learning at this modern age and time.

Our degree and diplomas 10 years are already obsolete now. Who dare to say that his 10 year old school certification is still valid now? No one.

Now is industry knowledge and experience. So it's either OJT or go study some updated courses to stay relevant and useful to the company.

So looking at this skillsfutue system, it does provide some avenues for people to learn updated stuff and skills.

Again, no one guarantees anything. People have this weird mindset that if I do something, I must have guarantee.

Buy 4D no guarantee, then why so many stupid people still q up and buy? No guarantee mah, then why still buy?

So buy 4D can, but go take course, cannot?

Then if government never do anything to help, ppl will complain government never care about training and getting jobs.

Now government has this skillsfutue system, people also complain this and that. WTF!

If u are talking abt probability then I would say it is low.
It is not buying durains neither it is buying toto/4d. Got buy got hope no buy no hope.

Get the drift?

Has the government ever produced any statistics showing that the skillsfuture scheme helped jobseekers?

It's very easy to point out that actions are being taken. Whether the problems have been addressed is a different matter.

All those bs upskilled courses are not meant for you to find jobs.
Those courses are meant for Training providers to leech on the SSG -WSG funding.

Can try apply for Singaporepools cashier aunties?
Maybe singaporepools should set the requirement age to be 65 and above..

Give seniors citizens some job to work also. Alternatively, do some handicrafts / bakery / pastries. Let them pass time and earn some pocket money also.
Althou, some seniors can be really hard to work with, their temper can be really bad
