To be clear: "fibre top-up" is not MyRepublic-specific. Every fibre broadband provider can be affected by this.

For certain areas, OpenNet may discover they have not enough resources to support fibre broadband connections beyond a certain number. This happens when, for example, people switch from one fibre broadband provider to another or run multiple fibre lines.

To increase their capacity, OpenNet needs to top up their fibre resources, leading to a delay in getting your fibre broadband up and running. As more people go from one fibre broadband provider to another (as opposed to going from cable/ADSL to fibre), this issue is coming more common.

So yes, unfortunately your installation may be delayed to April.
Err.. what I really meant was is mid-april more or less confirmed or is there any chance it would be postponed again since the issue lies with opennet.

Unfortunately we can only estimate as accurate as OpenNet updates us. Right now their estimate is in April. If there are any changes we will let you know. *crosses fingers*

So what exactly are they doing? Are they moving equipment around, or need to purchase more equipment?

Great to see MR coming out transparent and providing explanations instead of denial.

Just a question, i was supposed to expect a call this month end to schedule an installation date. in this case, can i expect an April installation or is there any delay foreseen?

While OpenNet appears to be the bottleneck, the other ISP actually scheduled me for a March installation. Can I assume that there will be no delays for my HDB Block? Looking forward to a transparent and upfront answer.

Thanks!

There is nothing wrong with giving feedback about things that MR did not do well. I am not always happy with MR for the last 2 years I have been with them but so far so good better than the other 3. But giving feedback objectively is one thing, to use strong words like 'cheat', 'victim' are wrong. They have not cheated anyone. They probably provided bad service. They probably could not fulfill what they initially promise. But to use words like 'trick' and 'cheat', 'low handed' will only make people perceive the feedback as abusive and manipulative rather than being objective.

The alpha test has began long ago and it's stable such that we are able to constantly attain 800-1000Mbps with the right equipments.

Since the introduction of the plan, we have been working hard to ensure the DNS are working fine, any potential capacity cap issue has been resolved, peering and bandwidth checked and similar to existing or better.

There's absolutely no need to wait for 6-9months for that i can assure you as it's stable and robust enough. As mention the beta would include few hundred users ( 200 user + HWZ) that we can reach out personally and collect feedback to further improve the performance because the network is ever growing =).

Are china websites, based on dynamic IP in particular, tested?

nivleK1985, Johnnny, any advise on whether china websites, based on dynamic IP in particular, are tested on accessibility?

Or there will still be issues with china website as per existing plans? ie. PURE plan

I know we've been a bit slow in replying to you about this issue, Nez. Sorry about that.

I understand that our Engineers are about to improve our connections and routes to China websites. Yes, it's current subscribers that are affected. We believe the new 1Gbps lines should not have the same problems. Once improvements have been made on our part, we'll let you know asap.

Appreciate the response.

So can i say that if i were to upgrade to the 1Gbps plan, i would not face anymore accessibility issues to China websites while on dynamic IP, which I am currently facing on the PURE plan?

Thanks

I don't think the issue lies with Opennet... My neighbour signup Singnet FBB last month (Feb) and have already connected within a week.

Generally speaking, different China websites give all ISPs problems, regardless of the line and plans. So, unfortunately, we can't assure you that any line will be problem-free when accessing sites in China.

We can, however, assure you that if you were to face problems on the 1 Gbps line, let us know and we'll look into it ASAP.

I believe it will be a case to case basis for China websites.

What he faces is a specific issue with fibre optic top-up.

I signup during 1Gbps pre launch in Jan.. but no one call me despite been told end Feb. What should I do? Shall I continue to wait till April? My ADSL contract had end with Singnet and have also missed their IT show promotion. I am disappointed with MR!

To help MR, I have narrow it down to the below website to be tested for 'unrestricted' access for all times of the day under the 1Gbps.

???-

For the record I just tried it on my phone with starhub mobile internet. Its has the same phenomenon of slow loading.

Perhaps some others on other providers can try access and see.
