The start of the 1Gbps plans is actually delayed from March to April right?

Are you referring the very first customers as beta or non-beta customers?

May I know what is the official marketing material? I assumed Facebook is not since nothing was announced on MR Facebook.
The beta marks the start of installation. This installation will start in March.

Beta include hwz user and first few hundred who sign up.

In March, our Order Team will give you a call to arrange for your appointment. Once contacted, it may take anywhere from 2 to 4 weeks for your fibre broadband to be activated.

In the end, it is still delayed to April.

We have started calling. Thus installation process is starting soon and will start this month.

One appointment will do

Hi existing MR customer here. Just want to inform you, your billing page for customer account a bit buggy. When I checked my history, only 15 months showed up under "All" section when I have actually completed 20 months. It appears when I filter by "year". Just want to point it out so that somebody can fix it. Four months left to go woo hoo, hope to upgrade plan and router. Can't do it yet cause I still have two free months left on this contract at the end so not worth it to upgrade early.

the top-up capacity problem is not a recent thing because of MR's 1gbps launch. and i dun think opennet cares abt resolving this soon either...
I fall victim to Opennet delay - www.hardwarezone.com.sg

The topping up of capacity mean that any ISP regardless of which one will not be able to deploy their fibre until the capacity issues is resolved.

Thank you for the clarifications.

I personally do believed that what MR is offering and doing is definitely good for us consumers in the long run. If this take off well enough, it could somehow set the standard for future broadband speed and pricings. That is why I am supporting MR all the way.

I still hoped that I can be included for the beta testing. :p

I got some message about OpenNet needing to do a “Fibre Top Up”, leading to some delay. What’s that?

This is a separate issue that MAY lead to your installations getting delayed. To be clear: this particular issue is not MyRepublic-specific or specific to 1Gbps. This potentially affects every fibre broadband provider.

For certain areas, OpenNet may discover they have not enough resources to support fibre broadband connections beyond a certain number. This happens when, for example, people switch from one fibre broadband provider to another or run multiple fibre lines.

To increase their capacity, OpenNet needs to top up their fibre resources (to basically install more hardware in their backend), leading to a delay in getting your fibre broadband up and running.

As more people go from one fibre broadband provider to another (as opposed to going from cable/ADSL to fibre), this issue is coming more common.

I appreciated what MR is doing to push for the installation date. My only comment is the lack of communication to the customers on the progress for their 1Gbps plans.

I fall under the fibre top up issue. It's disappointing to receive confirmation for an installation date and receive word of delay just a few days later.

I was assuming that MR and opennet had reached some sort of agreement for tending to subscribers capacity before this 1Gbps plan was announced but it seems like it isn't.

If MR cannot fulfill the postponed date of mid-april I might just change my mind and give MR a miss. :vijayadmin:

just to share, i recontracted m1 100mbps to 200mbps last yr for my parents place and had to wait almost 3 mths because of the same topup capacity issue. every few weeks call m1 until pek cek.

if u gonna recontract at ur old isp, u might still end up waiting.

actually even if both has come to a agreement, but somehow, one party cock up, or their vendor cannot supply the equipment fast enough, it will still come back to square one...

too many point of possible delays, this layered approach of NGNBBN.
But layered is good... thats how network people likes it... however as we see this time round... someone somewhere cockup.

I will not blame MR for this, but I do think that they should have made it clear and communicate the roll out at least to the subscribers better from the beginning.

is beta still open?

How can the beta test be still available?

Their VP have come out to downplay the beta test as merely the first 200 1Gbps activations and lasting only 1 week... very strange beta test. But surely by now they have more than 200 signups already?

Looks like MR really dropped the ball on this one and only responded when The Real Singapore reported a customer complaint.
