How can the beta test be still available?

Their VP have come out to downplay the beta test as merely the first 200 1Gbps activation and lasting only 1 week... very strange beta test. But surely by now they have more than 200 signups already?

Looks like MR really dropped the ball on this one and only responded when The Real Singapore reported a customer complaint.

200 signups do not mean 200 beta testers.

Sounds like first come first served, also Eugene definitely didn't ask for the beta, he almost fainted when he found out he is a beta tester. And besides with thousands of signups as MR claimed, the first 200 should be already allocated easily.

Sounds like first come first served, also Eugene definitely didn't ask for the beta, he almost fainted when he found out he is a beta tester. And besides with thousands of signups as MR claimed, the first 200 should be already allocated easily.

I mean that the VP does not explicitly say first 200 signups. He just said first 200 customers which can also mean first 200 customers who signed up for the beta.

I think Eugene has the wrong impression of beta = substandard.

Quite ironic, people are trying to be in beta while he is in beta but does not want it.

Yes, it was mentioned by one of the MR staffs that the beta testers are spread across different region islandwide.

Normally, beta or pre-launch testing is an opt in choice instead of opt out which I do not know for Eugene's case.

Everything can work perfectly during test but once go Live, there's bound to be unexpected issues. So it's best these are identified and resolved earlier rather than during full scale launch which will affect much more users.
Speaking from personal experience with new system implementations and obviously hopeful that glitches are minimal

Agree it is ideal that all the test phases, be it alpha,beta,gamma are all thoroughly done before rolling out to paying customer at the launch. Still for MR case, not sure if the 1Gbps is launching with the first 200 activation of beta-test customer or was it launched earlier during their mid-Jan roadshow?

The 1Gbps was pre-launched slightly before the roadshow and the official launch was at roadshow.

The alpha test we have conducted has been performing perfectly. A normal 'beta' period would stretch over a few months or even years. However, the reason why we are keeping it to 1 week is because it's robust enough to be launched. A network 'bug' isn't in anyway similar to those found in normal system testing. Thus, a totally different situation.

Trust us, and give us a few weeks. The first batch of customer will be able to show us their awesome speed test result (with the right equipment of course).

Are you referring to the TP or ONT installation?
