Installed 1GB plan today. Previously on cable.
Installer was on time, 15 mins installation, no hassle.
1GB ultra with no static IP.
Decent speeds.
Astril VPN works.
Netflix works fine.
Twitch seems to stream decently.
Fingers crossed.
But as of now, i guess if i don't have to talk to cs, thumbs up to MR.

I think that the MR 1gbps promotion is a BIG SCAM.

I have my installation carried out on 9 Apr.

1. The appointment is supposed to be 2-6pm. The techniician didnt come and no courtesy call from MR that there was a delay which I can understand. At 6.10 I called MR and was told that they will get back to me but they didnt. At 7, I called again and was told to call the technician directly. At 9+pm the technician came and installed the system.

2. The router specs stated that is good for 300 sqm. My house is a 120 sqm 5-rm flat and in the same living room where the router is, I get only 3 bars on my hp. In my bedroom, it is between 1-2 bars only.

3. The broadband speed is only 5-6 mbps on my mobile phone, a far cry from the 1000 mbps stated in the promotion. On my notebook, I only get 12-20 mbps.

4. The teleport service doesn't work. On the MY website, is a long list of internet sites which I am supposed to get access. After trying the first 5-6 sites I gave up because only 1 gives limited access.

5. The promotion includes a land line but I was told by the technician that this is not included. The equipment has no port for a phone line.

6. The technician cant answer my questions but said he will feedback to the company to get someone to explain the shortcomings but nothing came from them.

7. Of course I called the hotline to make a complain. After umpteen tries, I got through and the customer service person said he will get someone to call me back which hasn't happen in the last 5 days.

8. I went to the MR website and tried the live chat to get some answers. Nobody is live there after trying many times. After leaving the complaints, nobody answered to my query for the last 4 days.

It is really a shame that we want to support a new telco and they treat us without any regard. My advice: cancel the subscription if you haven't got the installation.

Haha... Unless you are asking about another VPN?
Doesn't matter which VPN as long as it uses pptp tunneling which astril uses for mobile devices. I am keen to know if MR has finally managed to fix it so that pptp works under dynamic ip :)

Tried astril before and it's pretty good but it is expensive. The normal package is fine but their addons can really inflate the subscription fee.

Firstly, it's not a scam. They are not swindling your money in return for nothing. There is something given, just that it is not up to standard.

1. Mine too. Problems do crop up, such as but not limited to: traffic delays, problems setting up connection for another customer, accidentally went to wrong house (yes, StarHub did that last time to me) or he just overlooked your installation timeslot. Heck, even when I go for an appointment at a private clinic, they sometimes delay up to 2 hours. At least they came down and install right? To be honest, I pity the technician who has to work till 9pm+, when the last installation slot is at 6PM.

2. Router specs are usually there to make people buy the router. Take it with a lot of salt. Advertisements usually show the good side of things. The range they quote is usually for: open areas with no WiFi interference. Basically, go live in a village in Johor to get the 300 sqm range as advertised.

3. Direct connection to ONT? If both speeds are Wireless, it's probably a faulty router. I am saying that because 10 mbps on a 1Gbps plan would mean a fault in the equipment somewhere (OpenNet side or your side) or a provisioning error, which is unlikely, since MR has only 100Mbps (legacy) and 1Gbps plans.

4. Did you sign up for Teleport in the first place? I can access all Teleport websites well. You may wanna try alternative services (DNS proxies), but they may be worse than Teleport. (I use it to watch German programmes)

5. Check your contract agreement that you have signed and see if you have ticked the checkbox that says "Home Voice" or something along those lines.

6. I always don't like to pass information to another person asking him to pass it to another person. It will NEVER reach the destination or the question gets distorted/manipulated and the guy who can answer the question would most likely answer a different one. Ask directly.

7. I never had any problems with MR support not calling back. Check again with them, or the MR staff on HWZ (not me).

8. MR live chat has been down even before the 1Gbps offer was launched. I guess they are no longer using it or something.

I'm not saying that you have no right to complain. However, do remember that you are paying peanuts for a 1Gbps connection, as compared to Red, Orange and Green. At least have more patience, it will pay off in the end (like me)!

To be fair, at least their techie showed up despite being late. Better than no show at all.

2. Which router did you opt for? Even the best asus routers don't guarantee that you can have full signals in all 4 corners of your house.

3. You should be trying your wireless devices like hp and laptops near the router to evaluate the speed first. Only devices which support 5ghz and AC can offer optimum speeds

4. I don't use teleport so can't comment :D

5. Did you opt for a digital line in your application? If yes and you received a black ONT, then MR is at fault.

As for MR help desk via phone support, it's true that it leaves one much to be desired. But as for the 1gbps performance, I am pretty satisfied. The only way you are ever going to enjoy that speed is via LAN. Powerplugs, top end AC adapters will never even come close. If you are planning to use wireless for everything, then M1 200Mbps is more than sufficient for your needs.

I like how it is witten. It's simple, clear & to the point. Putting them into point form make it easy to read. Good effort.
