So...

Got an email.

We refer to your Roku issue with Teleport (Netflix, Hulu etc.).

After further investigation on the case we found out that with recent firmware upgrade with the Roku, they are upgrading the security by hardcoding the Google DNS within the firmware blocking regions that are not supported.

As such we are unable to further support Teleport on Roku. Currently we cannot guarantee support in the future as it will be dependent on the firmware pushed by the manufacturer which unfortunately is outside our control.

We sincerely apologize for the inconvenience.

It's not that hard to fix. Just google and Why do I need to block Public DNS Lookups? : UnoTelly Customer Service

If I can do that in less than 5 seconds, why can't they tell customers how to do this? O.O Anywy Hulu Plus now works on Chromecast, but not on Roku still. Argh.

This confirms for me that my connection has some issues cos I am only getting 10+Mbps right now with a 500Mbps upload on Singtel's servers.

Now on facebook they said they have identified root of problem so I hopefully a cure will be administered soon.

Problem I do agree if the speed is that oddly low.. but is it throttling.. very hard to say. For me it has been stable by far. Maybe my site has the least users and thus all the fixes is tried here?

Check this out.

Customers fume as MyRepublic falls short of promise | TODAYonline

Actually with personal information, i think it's not sensitive if want to solve problems. It's the ability to say own name and stand up to such "abuse". Think about it like a protest, dont need to be physically there, just quote name and let authorities handle.

Who ask singapore say cannot protest =p now need to go other ways.

"Consumer watchdog CASE stressed that the onus is on MyRepublic to deliver what it has promised “whatever the reasons”, with affected consumers having the right to seek a full refund if the company is unable to fulfil its promise."

Actually... most ISP T&C only states the network outside of its control is not their problem to fix. Thus if comes to legal action, most users only suck thumb as we have to prove that the problem is due to ISP own fault, ie over aggressive throttling, misconfiguration etc. Such things are hard to prove without the cooperation of the ISP.

Thus I hate it when user just shout *insert assumption* and that MR is f**kup. It provides no additional value to fellow users except to mislead. Show people data that proves your own network isn't at fault and connectivity to at least MR own speednet is working fine/not working fine, traceroute, ping test etc. It has been discussed again and again and most of us concluded that speedtest.net results isn't as reliable and its best to test a download against a CDN like download itunes setup from apple or a big service pack from Microsoft to verify that the conditions is consistent across the service.

Example of the No liability clause for network performance in most ISP T&C.

1. See example MR T&C, item 4a-4d

2. See example SingTel T&C, item 9
BroadBand Plans Terms & Conditions | SingTel

3. See example M1 T&C, item 5.3

4. See example Starhub T&C, whole of section 13

Bro seriously MR pay you how much to do this?

Everyday everynight at around 10pm speed will drop to less than 100mbps on speedtest.net

Okay you say that speed test not reliable, then my years of browsing experience tells me that its is slow like ****. What else to proof? scroll back a few pages you will get the same answer. I just received a email from MR that there is a "new" maintenance. Will see....

I just recontracted with MyRepublic with the ASUS N56U router. They came to install it yesterday and I realised that my tablet and pc could not detect the network but my laptop, phone and tv were able to (even though connection was not strong and speeds were slow). I read about the padavan firmware and I tried it. It improved my laptop connection speed and strength greatly and it's now stable. My tablet can now also detect the network. The only problem left is my desktop. It still is unable to detect the network. At first I thought it could be the problem with my usb network adaptor but when I tried the adaptor on my laptop, it could detect and connect to the network fine.

Anyone know how I can resolve this? My desktop is the main device which uses the internet connection :(

MyRepublic is dragging and delaying my recontract 1Gbps installation. emailed, called them, but they do NOT bother to reply or call me back to fix an installation date.
How can I seek help?

Recontracted on 31Aug, till now they have last minute cancelled my Sept installation appt, and no one bothered to call me to fix another date, which was promised within 14days at the point of cancellation.
Was unfairly charged for the installation and hardware router fee already by them, but no service was fulfilled by the irresponsible team.

Bro.. how many years of experience are you using to evaluate? Mine is counted in decades.. As I said, are you very sure MR is throttling and not Singnet end thats doing the throttling? As I said, we can see a problem trending but no one knows what is the cause except to the backend engineers at MR. I am only asking that when sharing, do it with proper data not just loud noise. Testing the Speedtest hosted at Singtel proves nothing except maybe at that point in time.. singnet is slow. The key here i am asking is it really everything also slow or just Singtel speed test that is slow. the next question I want to ask is, are you accessing any other contents besides on the same Singtel speednet server except for the speedtest? Unless you tell me the whole point of your internet connectivity is to run speedtest and getting a nice figure to give you satisfaction, I shall rest my case. Else, if you have failed to understand what I have been posting since MR first official thread 1 till now and not just a little few pages worth of posts, what I have always been stressing is real world usage.. ie you don't see me saying about people with twitch/youtube problem for example. Those 2 are real things people actually use where speedtest itself has no value except to tell you the speed you are accessing that particular server at that particular time, worst is it doesn't even tell you if itself is already saturated a not, thus the test is more like a toy, fun to play with but not useful at all.

PS: 14 years and 6k post count in HWZ will tell you that I only post when I have a need to.

PS: PS: I am also receiving that same maintenance email as well.

Same here, what I did was, I stopped my bank from making any further payments to MR. I submitted a ticket via MR support, after which as usual no reply, waited for 4 days, so I decided to take actions and I informed the MR via the ticket post, and they got back to me the every next day, offering me to pay the price of $49.99 instead of the $69.90.

*Oh since that we have no contract now and they failed to fix a date for you, you have every right to terminate the re-contract anytime, cause no contract was signed nor any part of the contract was begin served yet. But beware once you accept the new payment like me, they could apply the contract to you already.

Some ppl really use internet to test speedtest 24/7 de.. lol...

I feel for u bro.. at least im able to get 4-12.5mb/s with IDM for downloading videos... Let them continue play with speedtests bah.

Bad customer service and NO SHOW by MY REPUBLIC

C1014306

My ONT has been loosing connection intermittently & the night before, not access at all. Called last week for a replacement appoint on Friday 17 Oct for 9-11am (not till 1pm as I have to go to work). Called on that day morning to check the appointment but nobody picked up the phone after waiting for over 2 hours on hold ! Y

After making remarks on FB page, your gus asked "did they turn up ?" I replied "NO"., Then your guys called at 12 noon asking to change appointment to 3pm. I am already at work.

Anyway, I will be asking my bank NOT to pay this current bill as your have wasted my time and failed to provide a basic service and returning a call. If I do not get a replacement by today 18 Oct. I will deem that MyRepublic is frustrated at it's commitment & contract and therefore I am released from this contract.

You no deliver, I no pay. Simple as that.

Good luck to those who believed in your BS about being the next kick ass telco mobile phone operator etc etc. Yes, I will tell my Kiwi friend to refer to this forum and judge for themselves your SQL & CS

Further to add. I signed for the 100M Pure (a.k.a cheap) package 1 year ago via Marc from this forum. I don't expect too much but just a stable connection. not a BROKEN connection.

This will be my 3rd ONT replacement within the 12 months.

Hmm.... My advice is be glad that you are on hold now. Don't rush to get MyRepublic 1Gbps installed yet. They are still an emerging company as an ISP. Give them some time to clear up their networking issues first.

I actually regret getting it so soon. Actually it was the price that hooked me. I was paying near $70, and the internet quality was so good that I decided to recontract with them asap. (before my contract ended)

But once i got upgraded to 1Gbps, it was great (but only for the non-peak hours) direct downloads from microsoft was so good that i was actually jumping for joy. but come night time.... i was crying. Seriously, I had to spam my F5 button to refresh my browser to surf.

Just give MR some more time.

Seems like monday will have some maintanance coming up. So wait for everyone where who is affected praise the joy of the bandwidth that MR can support during the peak hours before you rush MR to do the installation for you.

I highly doubt this is possible though..
