Have you tried to login using another ISP and see what happens? If it has the same problem that means it has to do with the China server and not MR.




Your Battle.net account must state that your country of residence is one of the eligible regions then you can add the key.

Its rather confusing but also, if your battlenet account is eligible to add the key and play the game, you will be able to do it, regardless or ISP, or country you are physically in.

BTW Singapore is one of the eligible regions (I have the game and my country of residence states Singapore)

Yes, some friends of mine using Starhubs / M1 are playing with no problem at all. My connection with websites and game servers in China are extremely slow and unstable, even much worse than singtel 3G. (I tried using my cellphone as hot spot.)

Other websites and services outside China is fine. But this issue not only concerns me but also my wife, since she used to do online shopping via taobao and stream via youku / tudou. All of them are affected. We started using MR since Aug last year, and it was not good but acceptable. Recently the experience is getting worse.

Is there anything I can do to solve this issue? (I'm using 150mb gamer with Account No. C1011481. )

I tried 3 times today and every time got stucked in the game or lost connection even at 2:00am ! Just now, I can't even open the homepage of youku, not to mention streaming.

Becos like all marketing techniques, "FREE" is much more enticing.

Marketing dept needs to look busy too. hehehehe

but are helpless, if the products sucks. Like our issues with accessing Chinese websites for streaming. Till now , no real reply or ignored.

Or was it that so as long as it connects, speed is a relative term ? or do they have the bandwidth to do so ? Hmmm

In a recent round of maintenance, we noticed that your Home Voice ATA (that's the adapter device that connects your phone to your broadband modem) is not receiving a clear connection from our servers. This is most likely caused by a software issue in the adapter.

To restore your phone's connection please power cycle your ATA. In other words, disconnect the power source to the ATA, wait a few seconds, and then plug back in the power supply.

Afterwards, please leave the box on for a few minutes while it upgrades the software internally. Do not unplug the device when the "Internet" and "Phone" lights are blinking together. It means that the ATA box is doing an upgrade.

If after 5 minutes there is still no dial-tone, please contact MyRepublic support at 6436 6638 with your customer details for our Home Voice team to follow up promptly.

With all the other negatives being reported, I thought I should report a positive...

Noticed yesterday that Teleport support for Vevo and Crackle appears to've been added on the Apple TV. Good work, folks. Will check Crackle support on the iPad later today (it used to work, then stopped... hopefully the team's fixed this too).

Is static ip necessary for hosting game servers like minecraft? I know the ip will change now and then but i'm currently using no-ip hosting as my dynamic ip solution, thanks, on M1 fibre here

To be fair, the China issues will not go away any time soon. There are too many dependencies, some of them which may or may not be under control by MR.

If your host requires ppl to know your IP address and connect to you, yes you do need static IP.

If your host is connecting to a central server which the server manages the connections via internet, then you may not need it.

Sorry, not too sure if it answers since I do not know how Minecraft servers work.

As long as it a gigabit switch is good enough bro.
I believe your setup is from the Asus Router connect one lan cable go through your small hole into your room switch. after that all your other devices in your room will connect to your switch.

Why u need a Switch - Switch?
If you looking to extend more connectivity port, another switch is sufficient unless different location.

Router - Devices / PC is fine unless the 4 ports is not enough.

Hi wilflare,

1) Have been using an RT-N66U in my home for a while now with not many issues - could try that.
2) I do run a cat 6 between my router and NC ONT, but generally it should not affect that much.
3) As long as your speed or latency have not been affected, there is generally no need to . However, I still have a couple armored fibre patch cords lying around from the previous MO (ordered too many :S) so if you need any feel free to drop me a PM.

Yeap, thanks to lukestar, to clarify Static IPv4 is necessary for hosting Minecraft servers (not needed if you only want to play on other people's servers) since they require a publicly accessible IP unless you use stuff like Hamachi which isn't advisable anyway (why use software like Hamachi when you can route direct ) . How many walls you have between the location of the router to your kitchen? Have you try homeplug?

I run a homeplug to my brother's desktop but his speeds are less impressive for sure.

One more thing you might consider is that if you do frequently use microwave oven in the kitchen, that can kill the wifi signal (assuming on 2.4GHz).
