Noob question, you guys use statistic ip for remote access to your PC or IP Camera?

Can have quite a lot of uses for a static IP . Usual usage scenario include NAS, IPCAM or non-commercial web hosting.

For science, I went to bought a pair of TP-LINK AV500 with passthrough (PA4010P).

Set up goes like this.

N56U --> Home Plug --|-- Powerpoint extension <--- Home Plug <--- laptop

I'd connect straight to wall socket except the cat 5.e 2m cable I bought wasn't long enough...

TADAH! New results as below!

Mission accomplished

Wired?
Why your speed so slow?

No issues on static ip as well. anyway anyone seen the home automation demo thing at the roadshow? dunno if applicable irl yet, they make it seem like all possible right now, might wanna get some of those functions if it actually works irl, anyone using?

Apparently it's $2,000 for the base controller kit plus close to $300 per "switch". If you set it up, I'd love to come over and have a look-see. Will bring the wine and cheese.
