If one take account into 2 years contract, then it would not be just less than $20.

2 years contract (purely just on monthly subscription)
MR @ $49.99/mth = $1,196.76
VQ @ $65/mth = $1,560

Paiseh didn't clarify.. I meant on a monthly basis la..

Not to sound like I am trying to defend MR.. but I have been enjoying amazing speed on MR (i don't twitch and for most of my use, BT, youtube, fc2 etc.. was fast) as well since their initial launch to the current 1Gbps.

End of the day, which ISP to is use is up to you but I would suggest you don't go around bashing ISP with your own assumption. Don't assume for example Twitch is the only thing people use on the internet and condemn an ISP to no end. Tell people the reason for your unhappiness and not just a blanket calls to say its not good.

Bro.. Fast is subjective. I was previously an MR user during early days before their customer service went to crap. MR's "fast" is nothing compared to VQ's. Even VQ's lowest tier 300mbps consistently maxes out the plan WHATEVER time of day.

It's a known fact MR slows down BT during peak hours.

I also respect that different people use the Internet for different purposes, but SURELY everyone needs and deserves proper CUSTOMER SERVICE right?

Question is, why isn't MR coming out to explain?

That is exactly the most important issue now whether or not they are as fast as VQ. The minimum is they should come out and explain.

The longer they hold their silence the more screwed they'll be

Don't get me wrong, I don't want anything for myself and you might think I'm damn busybody but I just hate it when consumers get screwed over so blatantly like that

Here's my 2 cents on your argument:

300Mbps = 37.5MB/s
BDRX - Min 25Gb, usually more, but for ease of calculation for me I will just put it at 25Gb

37.5MB/s is good enough to comfortably download BDRX without feeling slow unless you are some impatient guy.

Scenario 1: You expend 37.5MB/s 24/7 to download BDRX content (unrealistic use)
At this kind of speed, a 25Gb BDRX should be able to complete within 15 minutes, and that means 1 hour u will need 100Gb of harddisk space, 2.4TB in a day 16.8TB a week totaling 672 pieces of BDRX content. Each BDRX if feature length, should average around 2 hours, which means to watch everything you need 1344 hours or 2 months (assuming u stay glued to the chair).

So in the end you end up buying alot of harddisk, and hording all that you have downloaded, which you may or may not even have the time to consume it. Some people really do that, buying 4TB hardddisks, set up the array of external harddisk enclosures, but not for me no thanks, not critical for me to have 37.5MB/s 24/7/365.

Scenario 2: on-demand 37.5MB/s (more realistic use)
The most realistic case is that you wanna watch something in peak hour and don't have to compromise on the content quality, can still grab BDRX because you know its gonna finish in just 15 minutes and you can enjoy the content. I would love to do that but can do workaround:

I will just download when I know I can get full speed.

I can still achieve the same ends, which is to enjoy a movie I want during peak hour. Its just a different means to an end. And for this end, I get to pay a lower bill too. Didn't lose out at all.

The thing now with MR (vis-a-vis VQ) is the strange lack of customer service, the twitch tv, and the funny problems faced by individuals or small batches of people. Maxing out whatever time of the day, I think its not very important. (Did you not realise that there is few, or none of the complains got to do with hitting beyond 500Mbps in real world downloads?)

anyone know what will be the charges like if i pass my existing contract to my friend?
If your transferring to a friend not in the same house as you, you will incur a relocation fees by the ISP as it is a chargable item in NetLink Trust (aka Opennet).

Most of the issues is not about the bandwidth.

There never is a need to really max out.

But issues like making the users spam F5 just to surf (Eg. Yahoo, hardwarezone or fb). Now that's the problem...

Everyone here is looking for high smooth quality with lesser waiting time. Downloads I'm sure everyone here doesn't stare at the screen while downloading. They'll download, then surf while waiting or maybe grab a bite.

What most complains are seeking is only a smoother experience. (how to read news online if to go into a url takes like 10 refreshes.)

Anyone knowsif i can terminate myrepublic line through phone? Thanks

If I am not wrong, yes and no. You can tell them you want to terminate, they'll arrange for collection date. and based on forum replies past few months. rather high chances on day of collection of the ONT itself, no show. and then they continune charging. So.. :s22:

I have been trying to speak with their livechat since 30 mins ago.. and now when finally it's my turn, nobody replies.. with this kind of service, you can be sure when I terminate after my 2 years contract is up, I will cancel the CC I use so that there will be no "accidental" deduction on their part..

Damn fed-up, to current subscribers like me, must pray that nothing goes wrong during the contract period otherwise it will be a living nightmare.. goddamn it..
