MR's maintenance frequency increasing but downtime also increased....

MR updated that service restored.
02/03/2025 | 12:45AM: Connectivity has been fully restored for affected subscribers. If you are still unable to connect to the Internet, please power-cycle (turn off and on) your ONT and WiFi router. Thank you for your patience on this matter.

does anyone know if terminating the broadband will need to incur extra charge on/after the contract ends?

e.g if contract ends 25 june 2025, and i call them in advance telling them to terminate it on the 25/26 june 2025, will they charge me or do i need to pay 1 month "off contract" bill before they terminate it?

what would be the best date for my to terminate the contract? I'm trying to avoid paying extra fees/wasted bill cycle here

I had the same question in determining my termination date cos MR shop said it should be one day before the contract end date indicated on the MR app. Managed to get in touch with MR Support via chat and they confirmed the same, I.e. before new bill is generated. The word "contract end date" on the app is misleading imo.

Hi all - was wondering which router is worth getting from MR as my 1gb plan is up for renewal and was thinking of going for the no-frills 3gb plan:

current setup at my mum's place:
GTC-AC5300
with LYRA x 3 nodes for mesh coverage:

Not sure if i should just stick to current setup (sell off the free tp-link be230 in carousel) until i have the urge to upgrade the setup...

Saw that they offer TP-link BE25 mesh (3 unit) - not sure if it's worth upgrading to this setup.

1) Just take note that Asus has EOLed all of the consumer AC routers, including GT-AC5300.

2) Luckily there was a FW update due to a severe security issuse related to AiCloud. So you can probably use your current setup probably for some time. But in the end it is recommend to upgrade since it is a significant security concern if the main wireless router has been out of support.

Please unzip the firmware file, and then verify the checksum.

1. Strengthened input validation and data processing workflows to further protect information security.
2. Enhanced AiCloud password protection mechanisms, safeguarding against unauthorized access attempts.
3. Enhanced device security through improved buffer handling in connection features.
4. Refined data handling processes, ensuring secure and accurate information management.
5. Enhanced file access control mechanisms, promoting a more secure operating environment.
6. Strengthened certificate protection, providing enhanced data security.

As for Lyra, it has been EOLed quite some time ago and no more FW updates.

3) As for the next upgrade, probably you can keep the Archer BE230 and then buy two more from Carousell (about S$85 per unit, two units at S$170). It has dual 2.5G ports and it is one of the most cost effective local version wireless routers suitabe for 3Gbps plan.
