Yes. I also asked by MR to do a deposit. I only have one CC and did not use for two years now. Only using debit card most of the time for online purchases. No owing anything also asked for deposit. Not a foreigner also they said need it.

”I only have one CC and did not use for two years now”.

That is probably the reason you are been asked for deposit. If there is no credit card usage, there is also no credit history. Therefore, there is no info on whether you are a “risky person” or not.

To get a better credit rating, you should use your credit card a bit and always pay your bill in time and in full. Over time your credit rating improves. You can get a your credit report from Credit Bureau website. http://www.creditbureau.com.sg

anybody facing consistent, intermittent loss of data connection? keeps happening on my device (changed phones, to make sure not device specific). Status bar shows connected to LTE, but unable to receive or send data. Happens every 4 hours

I think It was due to this. Same thing happened to me. Got coverage but no data at all.

overall experience with myrepublic mobile was quite bad for the past 2 weeks since i ported from m1 sim only plan. looks like myrepublic mobile has poorer coverage and speed than m1 sim only plan although both are on m1 network.

will switch to vivifi instead.

I personally believe there's always a possibility that an MVNO connection can be poorer than its main operator's.

It depends on the agreement terms.

Network prioritization depends largely on those agreements, so yes, coverage can be the same, but network priority can be very very different.

Based on the information that's gathered to date, it seems like MyRepublic quite likely procures one of the lowest tier bundles from M1.

All the frequent connectivity issues, even though M1 and CL customers don't seem to face as much, suggests that the SLA might be far lower for MR than CL.

However, I'm not MR customer, so I can't guarantee what I just said is true.
I'm on M1 and CL though.

I can confirm that it is worse than M1 sim only plan even both are on M1.

i just switched to MyRepublic mobile from M1 sim only plan.

the speed is lower, stability wise is also weaker. I had two consecutive times encountered the prob from Outram park mrt towards lavender that there were strong coverage but totally no data. On and off airplane mode also no use. Need to restart the phone and wait for quite a while before I can connect data again.

quite disappointed.
Also can confirm that the data is running a lot faster than while I was on M1 sim only. Usage pattern is exactly the same.

I had switched to giga. I used to use StarHub sim only plan previously, was happy with the coverage and speed. Hopefully giga is the same.

M1 is doing network prioritizing settings on MVNO...My friend uses Changi Mobile and faster than MR at same place on same dual SIM phone...

I once had CM and MR in the same dual-SIM phone and yes, CM > MR. CM's connection is more stable.

Indeed, in the past 3 weeks I experienced multiple network down episodes, and also 0 data while having full network bars. Never got a reply after reporting the events to MR support.

MyRepublic's new 14GB data-only plan selling at S$3.99/month

https://mothership.sg/2021/12/my-republic-data-only-plan/
Telco operator MyRepublic has launched its "Data-Only Plan" today, which costs S$3.99 per month.

Details of the plan
According to the press release, users can enjoy up to 14GB of data at this price.

This is Singapore's most affordable no-contract, data-only mobile plan, according to the telco.

The data allowance comprises 4GB of high-speed data and an additional 10GB at a managed speed of 1Mbps.

Managing Director of MyRepublic, Lawrence Chan, said that this plan serves well as a secondary back-up SIM or for young teens who are getting their first smartphone.

What's unique about this plan is that users will not be charged "high prices" for exceeding their monthly data allowance. Instead, once the data cap is reached, users will have to buy an instant data booster through MyRepublic's mobile app from S$4 per GB or wait till the next billing cycle to come, the press release said.

The Data-Only Plan users can also access other services such as roaming data add-ons from S$6 via the telco's mobile app.

The Data-Only Plan is currently available only for MyRepublic fibre broadband customers, and is expected to be generally available in 2022.

If you are interested, you can sign up through MyRepublic’s MyAccount dashboard, or through any MyRepublic's official or partner retail stores.

I always had this problem with MR for nearly two months. That's the only reason I moved out from them just recently. Plan was attractive but so many connectivity issues. Most of the time I can see connected on LTE but no data (No internet) . It's pretty troublesome when outside.

correct. always have this issue. terrible.

I had that issue with Giga and switched over to MR. Having VoLTE on MR is definitely a big + for me as I get calls and make calls very frequently (~800-900mins incoming + outgoing a month). Not having VoLTE on Giga is a big issue for me. Yes Giga has VoLTE but it is not configured for some users, same phone model running one Giga network one may have, one may not have VoLTE, I'm the unlucky one.

Since there is this feedback, maybe I should test it out. My first day of experience been quite positive when compared to Giga. I have VoLTE issue with Giga, also having disconnection issue with Giga. I used to use M1 Sim Only, switched to Giga and regretted straight away (except that big 50GB + rollover data).

i switched from m1 sim-only-> myrepublic mobile -> giga -> vivifi.

VoLTE to me is not important since nowadays hardly making calls or receiving calls.
coverage and speed is more important to me.
