but the thing is that they might experience a lot of upaid fees by user so maybe if one wants to sign up they have to get that 100 to prevent u from running away with a huge chuck of upaid debt.

I've had colleagues who chose not to pay their monthly phone bills in full. I wonder if these are the people who contributed to locals having to pay such deposits these days.

If they continue having the stupid $100 deposit, they are going to lose out bad. Imagine paying $110 up front for the Lite Plan
What deposit? I signed up 2 lines at counter (coz did not want to wait for delivery) never ask for deposit.

they will collect $100 no matter sign up online or offline as long as u fall under their criteria...

What criteria? Weird. That's the reason I signed up my second card for work use. When my friend sign up ask for $100 when I sign up never ask. Don't understand why though.

This $100 still ongoing debate? lol.
They are the only telco / MVNO that implement such deposit collection without a valid reason.

Take your business elsewhere, I've blacklisted them already.

I dun know their criteria. I was asked about the $100 deposit too when I previously signed their line. It could be due to my previous record with m1.
I have M1 line previously which I terminated but only after few years later when I tried to sign line with them then only realised I got outstanding balance which I suspected this could be the reason.

then last year I managed to sign a new line with M1 sim only plan and also the fibre broadband. When I switched my M1 line to MyRepublic, I was not asked about the deposit anymore.

Damnit, no data since midnight, it's been 20+ minutes... Sick of it happening regularly when they reset their counters.

Ah, I thought it's MR dying. My dualSIM phone has MR and TPG in it, was using MR for data and just switched to TPG last evening when it happened. If only the others like Changi Mobile has eSIM, then I'd have port over. Using CM in my iPad and other spare phone.
