Getting the $100 deposit request when signing up online too. Will go to one of their physical shops to see if it can be done away with.

Hi all, one technical question, does MR's 5G only allows users to be connected to standalone (SA) network? Cause I see on MyRepublic updates list of 5G devices that will work on it’s network – OCWorkbench , looks like they only allows SA, no NSA. I tried on my iPhone, when I disable 5G standalone option, cannot connect to 5G at all. So we are not allowed to use NSA on MR?
I was able to connect. The speed difference is like
500mbps (SA option on)
140mbps (NSA)

Don't bother, really.
They will use the same public website to sign you up at physical store,
and the $100 deposit will still show up.

Ah that sucks. At least it is on the way home and I can save on the delivery fee for the physical sim.

Got this message too. Decided not to take up the plan. Don’t have any bad debt or late payments either.

It’s pretty ridiculous they are asking for a $100 deposit for a non-contract plan. My guess is they are propping up their reserves to service their own debts and obligations instead of taking loans from banks.

And if you terminate, they only return the money in 4-6 weeks. Disgusting.
Exactly. Not sure why they want to impose a $100 deposit on even Singapore citizens with neutral credit score, on a say $10 plan, when the payment is made at the start of the month of the plan, so what is the loss there? They can always cut the service upon failure to deduct successfully.

Like i said before, only those who require a $100 will know the reason themselves.:sneaky:

They don't impose $100 deposits on selected people for fun.

Me and my friends and family have jumped back and forth to so many telcos including Myrepublic with no issues.

We always pay our bills on time, never once late and have never owed any money etc.

https://www.creditbureau.com.sg/pdf/Understanding-of-TCBS-consumer-report-6-June-2019.pdfHave you ever had bad debts or payment defaults with the 3 local telcos in the past? Otherwise there shouldn’t be any record on your telco credit score at all since regular activity isn’t reported.

Same here. No idea what that other feller is insinuating :o
The only reason I can think of is that I have no payment records since my father was the account holder of most of the services I consumed, but since I started to take over the accounts I was saddled with this stupid deposit requirement. Never mind, I just choose to give my business to other providers who do not impose this stupid deposit then.

Which telco are you looking at? My Republic seems to be the cheapest for a 5g SA plan.

If you don’t need 5G, starhub’s simonly plans quite competitive at the $20 range also la.
