Even if you change to 5G On instead of 5G Auto in the network settings?
5G On on StarHub, handover still super slow. Don’t think MVNO will be any better.

5G On on M1 and CL, handover way more seamless compared. Don’t know if the combined network actually have separate 5G Core and therefore implementation differs.

I recently ported to MR from GOMO, and I noticed something which I did not experience with other telcos (Have used CL and GOMO in the past).

More often than not, when I’m in an area with 5G coverage, the handover from 4G to 5G tends to be slow, and results in a short period (could be as long as a few minutes) of non-coverage. In that period of time, the internet is unusable, and has posed inconveniences. Sometimes the same happen when the phone is automatically changing from 5G to 4G.

Basically all these to and fro between 4G and 5G is just sapping battery and causing internet downtimes.

Does anyone else face the same issue?

Is MR really handing over between telcos during switching of signals which explains the lag?
5G -> Starhub
4G -> M1

should not be the case
if you're on 5G plan, the 4G and 5G network on your phone belongs to starhub and lets not forget that you're not toggling between APNs when the network switching happens

UPDATE: it was an eSIM problem. They reissued a new eSIM and the problem appears to be fixed (for now).

Based on my experience, there is currently no 5G coverage in the MRT tunnels (not sure NEL Singtel has 5G tunnel coverage nv take that line). However, Singtel recently announced on May 9th, 2022 that they have extended their 5G mobile network to cover the underground MRT tunnels of the North East Line (NEL) from HarbourFront to Punggol stations.

When contacted by St Times, StarHub and M1 shared that they are on track to roll out 5G services to MRT tunnels in the next few months and aim to achieve nationwide outdoor 5G coverage this year. It is unclear if Singtel has similar nationwide coverage plans.

Hi, do you mean just 5G signal is weak? I stay in CCK as well, was using giga 2 years back and StarHub network signal is shockingly bad at home for me, ported out after a week. Currently on Gomo 5G plan now, interested in myRepublic 5G plan, not sure if StarHub network is still as weak in the area.
After switching to GIGA (which operates on StarHub network), my network coverage was poor with only 1-2 bars on average. However, since I switched to MR 5G, I have noticed a slight improvement in coverage with 2-3 bars(5G as for 4G same) . Despite this, I am still able to achieve good 5G speeds for my normal usage.

I'm worried about call drop rates with this kind of weak LTE signal.

How was it deduced to be an eSIM fault? I'm facing similar issue, thus would want to understand before I seek help with MR for solutions.
The technical support team mentioned that there could have been some network issues since I activated the esim before the porting was complete.

Funny thing is when I was on the call with technical support, my call got disconnected because of the connectivity issue I was facing (hence the call). They reissued me a new esim anyway, I deleted the old esim, installed the new one and voila, have been on 5G ever since without any disruption. Speed could hit 600Mbps+ at times.

Right, I setup before porting was done too.. probably that explains why I am facing similar issue.
