even the higher does not have the similar amount of talktime and sms than the lite plan.

IDD rate is indeed cheap. About same cost as local calls.

Comparing to circles.life (021 Budget Calls)

Wah. The pricing is so much different. 2 months back, I made a call using MyRepublic Talk app to Taiwan, called for 2 minutes and cost me $0.10.

Tested and proven by me

Here is the screenshot of my bill. Take note on how it will reflect.

IMG-20200523-221329.jpg

I made a 2 minute call to a Taiwan number. This is done using the MyRepublic Talk app. Connected to my 4G or WiFi. note how they will indicate, "App to non-app".

Take note, you need to use the App to call overseas while in Singapore. Do not call directly using your dialer. While overseas, you also need to use the app, to pick up the phone.

Hi,

So MyRepublic Talk can be used for IDD call made from Singapore, it will be much cheaper than other Telco?
I have thought that MyRepublic Talk is only use for calling when you are overseas location( not in Singapore)

Yes.
As long as you have...
1) login to the app.
2) Have internet connection in any country (4G or Wifi)

you will be able to make calls in the app. You can even answer call in the app. If you do not understand its fine, just apply one SIM CARD and try. Worth it.

Thanks for the info,
Since the App will be using internet connection,
Will it be using our local bundle talktime when we make outgoing call?

The app is mainly used when you are overseas to receive incoming and outgoing call at 95% reduced calls.

You can also use it in Singapore too, but to call overseas. Don't use the app for Local to local calls as it will be charged separately from your bundle.

It is using wifi/4G network for the calling. It work differently from whatsapp calls, WhatsApp calls uses data.

The MyRepublic Talk app uses 4G network for the calling. It works like how VOLTE works. Another perspective is the TPG voice app. No data is used when doing voice call on the app.

The app adds different routing (call forwarding) for your calls hence it reduces the roaming calls.

2. How does the app work?

The app can be used anywhere in the world, and users can save a lot more if they use the app to make/ receive calls when they are roaming

Download the app via App Store (IOS) or Google PlayStore (Android) and register using your MyRepublic Mobile number
Users can make a call through the app to any number in the world (supported countries/numbers)
Calls to SG number
Calls to international number (non SG)
The app must be connected to internet (WiFi / mobile network) to function – relevant data charges still apply.
The recipient does not need the app or to be connected to internet to receive the call. They will receive a call from the same number that is registered in the app.

5. How does MyRepublic Talk App work?

Making calls from the MyRepublic Talk app – either in SG or overseas

If a mobile user uses the app to call a number, the server will check if the recipient is also MyRepublic Talk user and is connected to internet; it will connect to the recipient via MyRepublic Talk.

If the check is negative, the call would be routed and connected via the GSM network.

You didn't answer his question. You are basically telling him use this MR app and pay to use Vs use WhatsApp which is free to use...

Incoming will be using bundle talk to time

Outgoing there will be charge $0.05 to Singapore. (Not sure if it take your bundle talk time) but very unlikely you will need to call out very long. It's still cheap after all.

Thanks for the info,
Since the App will be using internet connection,
Will it be using our local bundle talktime when we make outgoing call?

and what's the difference of calling thru whatsapp? isn't that free?

There could be instances where you need to call overseas merchant from Singapore, like hotels. And when overseas, you may need to call banks or airlines. Hence, this will help save some money as the usual overseas call charges are expensive.

If i use the App to make IDD call from Singapore, it will deduct from the bundle talktime?

Wrote not sure.

Let's say if it deduct your bundle talk time it still save u more than 50% of your airtime charges calling back to sg!

If you use it to call china in sg, it's still apply for the talk time + the charges to china. It's around the same as you buy a IDD card. What more if you don't stay in sg, as long as internet is working you can use it to call china, Malaysia or more...

Thanks for the info, i will be looking at the $18 plan since it has 1000 mins talk time.
Whats interest me most is the My republic App which offers huge discount if i see it correctly.
For instance, calling Germany it only charge 6 cts per minute
Compared with Singtel V019 which charges 39 cts

Yes, you are right!
Huge discount, only issues is that you need to connect to the WIFI/4G to use the App. (After login to the app u will not need that sim card with you). Remember calling Germany/China/Hk etc, the same rate applies between whichever country you are calling from since it uses wifi or 4G

Even overseas, If you have not activated any data roaming. Just simply connect to wifi at your hotel and you are all ready to call. Yes just WIFI!

If you have an iPad, Install MR app on the iPad, you will also be able to call from your iPad. (only one device can be login at one time). So your phone can call using the sim card, while your iPad can call using the app. (make sure u use the app to call when u doing IDD calls or using it overseas!) Normal calling using the SIM CARD IDD/ROAMING Charges applies.

MyRepublic claims that you will be able to save up to 95% in roaming calls.
Even for IDD calls hopefully, you get to save some bucks depending on the IDD promotion from other telcos.

Lastly the $10 Lite plan is good enough, If you need more then you can use the MYREPUBLIC APP (Not talk app) and triggle an upgrade! :D
