They tell you need deposit before you sign up or after ?
I am thinking to port over but dun like the idea of giving deposit.

So far no other telco ask for deposit except for those WP holders.

I am holding both $8 Uno Plan and $10 Lite Plan from MyRepublic Mobile.
I am not required to provide $100 deposit.

The $100 deposit may not applies to everybody. It depends on their Internal credit check system. How the system decides who need to provide $100 deposit only the management of MyRepublic knows.

I just bought the $10 lite plan from MR shop. Need to pay $100 deposit. I wonder why they need this deposit since they can cut off the line if exceeded. Is there any other telco that has this deposit practice?

Raintree, pls tell us you have clean credit history with AA credit ratings to confirm our hypothesis that MR is in fact randomly selecting people to charge $100 deposit. :s22:

MR's deposit policy is more onerous than the other telcos. I decided to take my business elsewhere because of this. Can check my earlier posts in this thread on this.

what ?! 100 sgd?
never have i encounter such policies with big 3 telcos in singapore.

I am assuming this is a physical visit to the shop. I do not see any such deposit on the online purchase of this plan.

I am thinking of visiting the physical shop soon to sign up this coming week, will update the rest.

Whether be it physical shop or online signing, the deposit will apply, according to the NRIC.

I believe my credit history is super clean. No credit card debt or personal loans. But since it's a refundable deposit, I don't mind paying if MR service and line quality meets the mark for $10.

You mean your month plan without phone bundle is $10 but they ask for $100 deposit?
This is ridiculous as security deposit is 10x of monthly incured cost.
Can we keep using calling IDD or high speed data once the subscription limit is use up???

Nope, not all telcos impose this, especially on Singaporean subscriber. While all telcos impose deposit requirement on foreigners, MR went further to impose this on some Singaporean subscribers.

Of course the deposit is just deposit. No such thing as able to keep using IDD or high speed data once the limit is up. It is just the same for all subscribers regardless of whether they paid the $100 deposit or not.

If not for its free transfer of ownership, I would have just ported straight to giga.

So I ported from Singtel sim-only to MR, then one month later ported to giga. Didn't look back after that.
