MR called and offered $17.95 for:

5G
90GB Data
1,000 mins + 1,000 SMS (Local)
1GB Roaming Data (Msia, TH, Ind)

Worth the switch? :)
5G pretty decent. Roaming is a bonus, but do note, MR's roaming add-ons isn't exactly cheap but works fine overseas from my experience.
The remaining factors depends on your own needs to decide the value/worth for the switch.

I think that free 1GB roaming only last for 6 months, which should be the same for other MR 5G plans.

Ya reason for the switch is because I always use up my 300 min talk time but nvm won’t be switching for now.

What is the minimum period i need to stay with MR before i can port out?
Yes, you can terminate your existing mobile line with us. But we will be really sad that you are leaving :(

Do note that the subscriber needs to inform us 3 working days in advance and a full month subscription & any charges incurred during the month will be charged to your final invoice. Before you go, please make sure that you have no outstanding bills with us.

You will need to fill in your MyRepublic registered email address and include the following information:

  • The mobile number you wish to terminate
  • Termination reason
  • Your preferred termination date (if any)

I believe it would mean to inform 3 working days prior and to settle the last bill and whatever charges before you are able to port out thus, ensuring that there is no oustanding with MR.

Anyone on MR 5G can share your experience in terms of coverage? Mostly got 5G or not?

Price wise definitely better than Singtel but cos they are using Starhub’s network, not sure how coverage is as Singtel 5G coverage supposedly better?

Yes, most areas have 5G, unless its in the buildings which fallback to 4G.
May have intermittent drop in connection when fallback to 4G.

But how is MR/Starhub coverage? I heard Singel is better provided its NSA? Seems singtel 5G SA coverage not as good as their NSA. Any idea about MR/starhub?

Perhaps I was not clear, I have not met anywhere without coverage.
Been on 5G most of the time, and places without 5G, i.e. indoor, it will fallback to 4G which might have some drop in connection while transitioning.

Singtel has been buggy for me, 5G most of the time but occasions where it is full bar but nothing loads and have to fallback to secondary connection.

Wow this is surprising to hear. No such issues for you on MR 5G? You using SA or NSA with MR?

For Singtel, both NSA and SA can reach 95% outdoor coverage in real life, so no need to differentiate these two. As for indoor, maybe both 80%.
For StarHub/MR, I would say cab reach 90% outdoor coverage in real life, only a little behind SingTel. Indoor maybe only 50%, so worse than ST.

Keep note, do not try to use NSA only on StarHub. NSA coverage is very limited, as all SH and M1 new towers are SA only. NSA is only provided as supplement. Unlike ST, which uses both SA and NSA extensively. However, this is a good thing for SH, as SA is faster

Thanks for the info. Wow 50% indoors is terrible. Sigh! Guess what they say is true, pay peanuts get monkeys. Clearly there is a reason why Singtel 5G is the most expensive of all telcos.

I mean ppl aren’t stupid right? If some other ISP is as good as, or almost as good as Singtel but significantly cheaper, who would want to pay more for Singtel? 😂

I keep having intermittent disconnection from data until I airplane mode on and off then i can connect again or I have to wait 5-10 sec. Is this normal with other users?

I’m on MR 5G plan.

Might be due to weak 5G thus, trying to fallback to 4G.
The fallback is the issue with MR from my experience from usage.

Sadly, looks like classic case of you pay for what you get. TBH i was considering MR 5G or Singtel. Price wise no brainer lah. $24.95 for 6 months then $29.95. No contract, free caller ID & 7GB data daily so 210GB a month.

Singtel first 12 months still ok just a bit more ex than MR but after that siong sia. $51.30 a month ($45.85 + caller ID $5.45) & data from 188GB reduce to only 50GB a month. And tied down for another 12 months.

Pricewise Singtel really not worth it after 12 months. But if their 5G coverage is the best, then i guess they can afford to be arrogant when pricing.
