Does anyone have past issue before trying to port out from MR ?

I'm trying to port out from MR 4G to Giga but it is not successful. Giga mention the MR number is not an active number and request me to reach out to MR to reactivate it. However I am actively using the MR number.

I've encountered an issue with MyRepublic (MR) plans due to inconsistent network specifications. Specifically, MR offers 4G plans through M1 and 5G plans through StarHub.

This ambiguity causes confusion when selecting MR , as it's unclear whether the new telco is referring to MR 4G or 5G plan.

I personally experienced this issue when porting my MR plan to a new telco provider. To resolve the issue, I had to clarify that my MR plan was a 4G plan utilizing the M1 network.

did you have to indicate M1 in your port out request or continue to select MR ?

How does MyRepublic Talk App work?

Making calls from the MyRepublic Talk app – either in SG or overseas
If a mobile user uses the app to call a number, the server will check if the recipient is also MyRepublic Talk user and is connected to internet; it will connect to the recipient via MyRepublic Talk.
If the check is negative, the call would be routed and connected via the GSM network.

So if the recipient is not a Talk App user, will it route to data calling instead since GSM is defunct here now? No info on that. Meanwhile, only Simba Call App is the surest solution for non-VoLTE 4G devices if users do not want their devices to become eWaste.

only 4G plan can try this app, so im not sure

But I think 'GSM' network should be regarding all 'cell network', 3G and also 4G. Not sure

does their 5G support SA? since using starhub, coverage for 5G good? ZYM cannot support SA. Grey off the setting in iphone 15plus . only can use NSA for ZYM mobile.

yes supports SA
But you don't need to worry about not able to use SA on ZYM. Speed is about the same. Both can reach 1000Mbps. At least around 300. SA is not faster in speed wise.

So visitors to Australia cannot use their home country provider roaming data?
It does look like it, I'm on Giga and it has stopped working for me. I'm using a locally bought australian mobile, I heard Singtel prepaid is also affected, i'm not sure what the way forward is in this case.

I am using iPhone 16 Pro, and purchased in Australia. So, unlikely affected by this? In fact, I was using the MR eSIM fine until yesterday...
So you're having issue as well? Is there any resolution in this case?

phone bought from the telco doesn't not guarantee to be working. you need to ensure the imei is in the whitelist when you buying the phone.

the garment block for the sake of blocking, data, calls & sms. leaving people totally disconnected. Such garment is not wanted as they do not think for its people.

I have a bunch of local SIMs which works on my phone, but Giga roaming doesn't work.

I am using MR 5G in iphone 16 plus. I got the 5G SA toggle. I just leave it on. Coverage and speed quite good in my use

When I previously tried to port from MR 5G out to M1 , i had this same problem where they said number not active. I went to find MR and MR told me to tell M1 that it is porting from Starhub.
However, i realised MR 5G actually less lag than M1 5G in my home for some reason. So i ended up just cancelling the m1 temporary number

Thanks for the sharing. did MR say they will re-activate the number or just share with the new telco on the porting from Starhub ?

Kinda disappointed that OP12 isn't supported for their 5G network despite being a 1 year old phone. My previous phone also same story. So few options for affordable 5G mvno in this case:s22:

giga also don't support your OP12? But you need 5G SA or 5G NSA?, if 5G NSA can consider singtel mvno.

Otherwise, if you really need 5G SA, can try M1 CORI Sim Only. $14.95 with 200GB 5G, or $17.95 for 1024GB. That is if you qualify for CORI

just ported back to MR 5G after several months with VIVIFI and SIMBA. Feels good now.
Reason for choosing MR 5G:
1. giga and eight, both are on Starhub network as MR 5G. But both don't support sending global SMS, even if you are in SG. Plus, you must buy a $5 add-on to make IDD calls on giga.
2. VIVIFI customer service is non-existent. There is no live chat, only has email. And they reply your email after a week at least.
3. SIMBA coverage is better than before, but still, much worse than singtel and starhub. Many indoor locations in private buildings, like office buildings, have no indoor antenna, relying on outdoor antennas to broadcast signal inside. Very easy to lose connection.
4. Esim, and 5G SA. Although ZYM provides 5G plan at $15, but there's no esim, and it's NSA. VIVIFI also NSA, and with bad customer service.

Noticed that the previous 3G spectrum used for M1 and Starhub has already been re-farmed to 5G SA. Very fast effort! Making n1 band increase from 15MHz to now 25MHz. Happy that M1 and SH really doing work. Unlike Singtel, still holding onto 3G.
