Prata. India has something called paratha but it has a totally different texture - almost similar to chapati. Only found out about it when I had to be based there for a project. There is a version of it I really like but is hard to find in Singapore called aloo paratha which has potato fillings on the inside.
hmmm .. referring to that potato fillings .. dhosai masala do have that albeit it's not a prata :o

Anyway Malay culture owes a lot to the Indians who ruled the region. Without the Indians Malays will still be the Orang Asli. You go back far enough lots of Malay culture stems from India. E.g. Indonesia literally means Indian Islands.

indeed. not many are enlightened like you. or they chose not to acknowledge this fact.

Diff lah. Dhosai masala the potato is spiced, but aloo paratha is literally plain mashed potato stuffed into the dough.
ahhh .. me thinks me knows already
there's a version of it here but not exactly a prata being used

it's called roti boyan
some malay kueh stall sells this
more towards a pastry but filled w/ nothin' but mashed potatoes, lightly spiced

some made rectangular
some circular ala curry puffs
sambal sauce included

Roti prata - the texture here is quite unique to Sg.
Roti canai - Malaysian version. Flour texture is different.
Paratha - from India. Almost very different from Sg version of roti prata.

I do like the occasional dhosai masal myself but the potato filling in the aloo paratha is not so gao. Its quite thin so the entire flat bread still looks fairly flat.
