hi. previously it does not request for authentication. this was the PC i used to set up the NAS. i don't even have user accounts set up on the NAS and did not have any problem access the x: drive before. did not change any user passwords. user RJ refers to the PC i am using.

Did you by any chance upgrade the NAS firmware recently? In would seem like you have been using the user account nobody to access which doesn't require password in older firmware.

hmm... i don't think so. in any case, it doesn't seem like there is an updated firmware for this NAS yet, no?

i tried also to remap a new network drive manually and not able to. when i try to 'browse' the NAS does not appear on the network so i can't select a folder to map.

Oops, my bad thinking that you're using DNS-320.

Are you able to ping or access the NAS webUI? Could be just an issue with the network connection.

no problem login to the web ui via ip address. i can do the usual... manage the apps, file copy between folders on the NAS etc. but just seemed to have lost my ability to connect to it as a network drive.

Have you try using the UNC method? That is, use the ip address like: \\192.168.1.x\Volume_1 instead of the NAS hostname.

yup. i did that. cannot also. what will happen to my raid1 set up if i ran the set up disk again? will it reformat?

when i click on diagnose from the windows map network drive the error detected is "remote device or resource will not accept connection".

i tried setting up a user account on the nas and use 'logon with different credentials' also can't. frust ah!

Personally, I don't use the setup CD.

If you're able to access NAS webUI meant that there is nothing wrong with network connectivity.

If you're using Win7, go to Control Panel and click on Credential Manager. If there's entry under Windows credential for the NAS, delete it and retry the drive mapping.

can't. i think it is something on the NAS itself. i checked my wife's mac which was able to 'go server' and view the folders before and now can't anymore. so i think its a setting on the NAS or something changed without me realizing. the only other think i can think of is i turned on my MIO box recently.

If you type in using UNC, does a window appear listing all the Shared Folder content?

Also, I assumed you have done a reboot of the NAS. Sometime certain daemon stop running and need to be restarted.

well.. whaddaya know... i can connect now... its the WEBUI! when i did the system shutdown via WEB UI i decided to just go check the box and when i looked it was still on even though the Web UI said it was shut down! so i suspect all these while when i was restarting via WEB UI it didn't really restart. i turned it off and on physically and now it works.

thanks for your help albert.

Just got myself a 320L and have been following the instructions at DNS-320 -FunPlug 0.7 + Transmission for the installation of fun plug and transmission.

There are some amendments to the guide to get it working for the 320L as experienced by some memebers in this thread. Thought I share my experience here for the benefit of others.

1. ssh login will work for the first time. But after reboot, there will be a connection refused error. Need to do the following as discovered by LX2010

Add:
chmod 600 /ffp/var/lib/sshd/
chmod 600 /ffp/etc/ssh/ssh_*

just before the line “proc_start $command”

in the file ffp/start/sshd.sh

2. Latest transmission version has changed from 2.52 in the klseet guide. So need to amend the filename accordingly when entering commands

3. Transmission should launch. Need to fix permissions as advised by albertlee
Create /ffp/etc/fun_plug.local and add the following:
chmod 0664 /dev/random /dev/urandom

4. All is not well yet. web gui will crash soon after giving cannot connect to server error. As advised by http://forum.dsmg600.info/viewtopic.php?id=5627

edit /ffp/start/transmission.sh
replace: su $user -c "$command -f" with su $user -c "EVENT_NOEPOLL=1 $command -f"

Afternote: I am still getting error after step 4. If I set the variable EVENT_NOEPOLL manually, it will work but once I restart it will be lost. Need to research more.

Afternote 2:
Decided to add the variable after transmission start instead.

transmission_start()
{
EVENT_NOEPOLL=1; export EVENT_NOEPOLL
if [ ! -d ${TRANSMISSION_HOME} ]; then

Hope this helps fellow forumers!

i follow the tutorial yesterday. web ui hang and transmission log keeps increasing.

i open the log and it mentioned about crypto file not set.

i think the crypto library is missing or something.

alternatively i think you can clear all torrents first, load the web ui, disable encryption mode = none and retry.

Hi guys, need some help as i just bought the 320L.

Tried to configure the port 80 thing on my Asus N56U but i think i did not get it right. When i tried typing the xxxx.dlinkdns.com into my browser,i am brought back to my router setting page.

Can somebody guide me what are the correct steps to do it?

I have the same problem with remote access over here. I tried changing routers and all sorts of combinations for port forwarding but i could never get to the NAS webinterface page or any NAS related pages such as transmission's webinterface. The furthest I got to was my router's setting page.

Anyone got it working?

This is how I got mine to work:
1. Register for account at www.dlinkddns.com. Do this on the same network as your NAS so that you get the same IP address as your WAN connection. Add your IP address to it by copying your browser IP to new IP address.
2. On your router, port forward 443 (for ssl) and 9091 (for transmission) to your NAS IP address. SSL and transmission ports work for me. I did not try port 80 as I heard some ISPs block it.
3. Go to https://yourdlinkddnsurl. Note https for ssl. You should be able to see your NAS login screen.
4. For transmission, go to http://yourdlinkddnsurl:9091. Note port 9091 and no need https. You should be prompted to log in to transmission.
5. The DDNS updater in the 320L doesn't work very well for me. I only got it to update once. Now I am using the updater in my DD WRT router.

Hope this works for you.

This is really strange. Followed the same steps that you provided,

2h8bzte.jpg

and yet, I cannot access my DNS. All I get is a timeout screen.

Again, going to the router settings page works fine. Is this a problem with the portforwarding of my router? (using a Aztech GR7000) Or is there something wrong with the DNS?

The ports are stated to be open by http://www.yougetsignal.com/tools/open-ports/ and http://www.ipfingerprints.com/portscan.php

I have a linksys router as well and tried it yesterday but it seemed to give the same results. (Still got the timeout screen but i didn't bother going into the router settings page)

If you can get the router config page, it should mean the DDNS is working. Sounds like a port forwarding problem.

The help for 320L says this: "Note: After configuring the router for dynamic DNS, you can open a browser and navigate to the URL for your domain (for example http://www.mydomain.info) and the router will attempt to forward the request to port 80 on your LAN. If, however, you do this from a LAN-side computer and there is no virtual server defined for port 80, the router will return the router's configuration home page. Refer to the Advanced Virtual Server configuration page to set up a virtual server."

Is there a virtual server config in your router?

Not that I know of. The only other thing to do with port forwarding seems to be this "access control" function. I have to tick WAN for webinterface for me to reach the router login page remotely.
