for any issues on DNS-320L, you can actually visit the dlink forum and they actually have a wishlist of requests there for the next firmware update.
Method 1 should work but you need to configure the new drive on DNS-320L as standard volume first since the default filesystem used in DNS-320 is EXT3 whilst DNS-320L uses EXT4. After which insert the new drive into DNS-320, it may prompt to reconfigure so ignore it and do the data move via remote shell. Run it as background process if there is a lot of data to move, it takes around 1hr to move 100GB across drive.
Take note I have not try this myself (ie. moving data btw different NAS model) but have done data migration across drive before.
I think it supports. because when I copy the same 2 files (movie.mp4, movie.srt) into a USB drive, and plug it into the tv, when I play the movie, it will show the subtitles.
however when playing from NAS, it only plays the movie..
Many thanks Albert
This sux. My RMA-ed DNS 320L just died again. How long is the warranty, anyone knows?
thx man! Am I the only unlucky one here? haha..
Do you guys do weekly/daily on/off cycle for your NAS? Not too sure if this is the problem that is causing my NAS to go kaput.
With the first NAS, I scheduled an on/off twice a week via the webpage. Lasted less than 4 mth before I did a RMA.
The second one lasted almost 12 mth (without any power cycle) before I had itchy fingers and scheduled a power cycle (once a week). Within a few mths, the NAS couldn't boot up. The blue power light blinks non-stop but the HDD lights are off. Trying my luck debugging the issue now..![]()
works most of the time, the rest of the times need to manually switch it on.Does the DNS-320L scheduled power-on work? IIRC, this feature doesn't work on DNS-320, only scheduled power-off work.
My DNS 320 died and purchased a replacement DNS 320L. File system is not compatible, as such the drive cannot be recognize when I plug the DNS 320 drive to DNS 320L.
I need to retrieve and migrate all my date from DNS 320 hardisk, anyone can help here ?
Thanks
anyway this NAS is really very fragile.. lost both due to hardware failure and the second one died after a power shortage at home..
bricked two of them within two years. manged to change the first one but the second one was no longer covered..
pls save your money and get sth better..
definitely not the power adapter..Fragile? not really, been using my since 2010. But mine is DNS-320 so maybe it's model specific.
Which hardware failed? Power adapter or the NAS itself?
definitely not the power adapter..
I suspect the NAS flash is corrupted. The NAS blinks non-stop (means it's booting, trying to boot).
Yeah could be model specific..
I got this issue today also. this is my second one already. first one lasted a few mths only. Second one lasted a yr...definitely not the power adapter..
