anyone can share the torrent experience on DNS-320L? Are there any limitation ?

Build in torrent doesn't support magnet link. Have to hack to install Transmission....if it is even working reliably.

To all the owners/users of DNS-320L, I need your help before buying this.

1. Does this support direct copy/paste files from pc to NAS via usb 2.0/3.0? or only can copy/paste files via network?

2. Will I be able to watch movies from my handphone/ipad via streaming to this NAS? how about the supported video files like MP4,MKV, and others does it support? also the subtitles like srt/sub will it be able to read it as well?

3. Does it support torrent so i won't need to use my pc.

to all that would answer, thank you very much! :)

Setting up fun_plug and transmission: DNS-320 -FunPlug 0.7 + Transmission

Fixing the tr_crypto bug if you get it : forgot which code I used , but they were from this page .. http://forums.hardwarezone.com.sg/storage-clinic-119/d-link-dns-320l-3996991-6.html . Think it was this ..
chmod 664 /dev/random /dev/urandom

Dyndns : I set up on router using free d-link account. If you don't have dlink router You can sign up with credit card and cancel in 1 week to get 1 free Dyndns domain . On the router I did a port forward on 9091 to the NAS box, and set the MAC address as reserved ip assignment so that the port forwarding isn't messed up

Transdroid: Download and installation » Transdroid

1) USB is for printer and if not wrong, backup to usb device, you cannot copy from usb to NAS.

2) mobile streaming mostly depend on the app you use. Same goes for the video format.

3) there is a built-in torrent which i believe not alot of ppl use, course most ppl would download funplug and use transmission as their main torrent client

Yes, just use tar command to archive the entire ffp folder and name it as fun_plug.tgz. Backup this archived file and fun_plug script and use these should you ever need to "restore" FFP.

Code:
cd /mnt/HD/HD_a2
tar zcf fun_plug.tgz ffp

I have a DNS-320 with one 2TB disk, config as standard disk. I bought a new DNS-320L, and want to set it up as a 2nd NAS for backup and still online.

Is it possible to stick a new disk into the DNS-320, set up a RAID-1 mirror to mirror all the data, then remove and stick the new disk into the DNS-320L and have it recognised? Fastest way I can think of in setting up the new disk.

Alternative 1
Stick the new disk in as standard disk 2, use internal command via FFP to copy all data from 1 disk to other. Take out new disk and stick into new 320L NAS and hope it can get recognised.

Alternative 2
I have to setup the new NAS and do a transfer from one NAS to the other via the network. Sure will work but slowest I suppose.

Method 1 should work but you need to configure the new drive on DNS-320L as standard volume first since the default filesystem used in DNS-320 is EXT3 whilst DNS-320L uses EXT4. After which insert the new drive into DNS-320, it may prompt to reconfigure so ignore it and do the data move via remote shell. Run it as background process if there is a lot of data to move, it takes around 1hr to move 100GB across drive.

Take note I have not try this myself (ie. moving data btw different NAS model) but have done data migration across drive before.

Issues with Internet Connection

Hello guys,

I have tried to fix this problem for a long time already and no result, then I decided to ask you for help.

I got the DNS-320L and I can't set it up in a way to work with the DDNS, NTP and also I tried the torrent downloading and no result.

I am currently a Singtel Fiber user with router DSL7000GRV(S).

Can you please help with this?

Thank you very much.

Merry Christmas.

Hi guys,

Can anyone help me when I try to access my folder Mapped drive to the DNS320L share drive this morning, it won't connect. I have the Lan cable at share drive, it connected properly and lights at the back are blinking fine. I test the share drive whether I can access through apps, yes it can be access but when I use my computer to access, it cannot. Can anyone help me why the share centre are not able to access and connect? Thanks.

Now it´s running.

Just got myself a 320L and have been following the instructions at hxxp://klseet.com/index.php/d-link-dns-320-nas/173 DNS-320 -FunPlug 0.7 + Transmission for the installation of fun plug and transmission.

There are some amendments to the guide to get it working for the 320L as experienced by some memebers in this thread. Thought I share my experience here for the benefit of others.

1. ssh login will work for the first time. But after reboot, there will be a connection refused error. Need to do the following as discovered by LX2010

Add:
chmod 600 /ffp/var/lib/sshd/
chmod 600 /ffp/etc/ssh/ssh_*

just before the line “proc_start $command”

in the file ffp/start/sshd.sh

2. Latest transmission version has changed from 2.52 in the klseet guide. So need to amend the filename accordingly when entering commands

3. Transmission should launch. Need to fix permissions as advised by albertlee
Create /ffp/etc/fun_plug.local and add the following:
chmod 0664 /dev/random /dev/urandom

4. All is not well yet. web gui will crash soon after giving cannot connect to server error. As advised by hxxp://forum.dsmg600.info/viewtopic.php?id=5627"]hxxp://forum.dsmg600.info/viewtopic.php?id=5627

edit /ffp/start/transmission.sh
replace: su $user -c "$command -f" with su $user -c "EVENT_NOEPOLL=1 $command -f"

Afternote: I am still getting error after step 4. If I set the variable EVENT_NOEPOLL manually, it will work but once I restart it will be lost. Need to research more.

Afternote 2:
Decided to add the variable after transmission start instead.

transmission_start()
{
EVENT_NOEPOLL=1; export EVENT_NOEPOLL
if [ ! -d ${TRANSMISSION_HOME} ]; then

Hope this helps fellow forumers!

Create /ffp/etc/fun_plug.local and add the following:
chmod 0664 /dev/random /dev/urandom

Doesn´t work for me on 320L, work once whem I put "chmod 664 /dev/random /dev/urandom" in Putty command line, and worked, them
crash again whem the NAS reboot, now I add a line chmod 664 /dev/random /dev/urandom into the end of the file /mnt/HD/HD_a2/ffp/etc/fun_plug.init and until now the transmission keep running even whem the NAS restart.

PS. Sorry bad english.

You need to elaborate further as there are multiple issues here. At first look, it would seem like a router configuration problem.

for any issues on DNS-320L, you can actually visit the dlink forum and they actually have a wishlist of requests there for the next firmware update.
