Received an offer for Software Engineer. New entrant to the industry. Is NCS a good place to start? Appreciate veterans’ advice..

ncs.... :s16::crazy:

Positives: You get a good foot in the door, some good corporate experience, understand how it is to be at every tiny bit of mercy of a client (Mostly Gov which can be hard).
Get to work in the service based industry to better appreciate it when you leave for non-service industry company :D
Get good exposure to a lot of different tech.
Exposure to working on some huge projects so you can gain some really good knowledge.

Cons: Service based industry.Service based industry.Service based industry.Service based industry.Service based industry.Service based industry.Service based industry.Service based industry.
Be prepared for OT like crazy or get judged when you leave on time. OT Culture is BIIIG there.
Working at the clients on-site, getting put in shitty vendor rooms with horrible chairs + desks.
Location of said clients can be anywhere which sucks.

It’s better for u to not reply if not giving constructive replies..

Don’t be so greedy as a fresh grad .

4.2k is good enough for you to start as fresh grad .

Many ppl work so many years also don’t have 4.2k .

I will choose those candidates with good attitude > ask for more $ .

Somemore now covid-19 might freeze head count .

Good luck !

I believe NCS Nucleus is one of the best programme for new hires, if you are looking into software as a career. They train you from day one, support you to get an NUS Grad Cert in about a year. Plus further support to get an NUS Master in 5 years. All fully sponsored.

Not everyone can get into Google. And there is no perfect company. You need to manage your expectation. If you are fresh, be grateful you are offered a job in a stable company. Join a company that believes in upgrading and training their staff.

They seem like a good company to join on paper. But from reviews, it seems like the experience depends very much on what projects one is allocated to and how much management likes you. So i am skeptical about whether to join.

I believe that people with good attitude and skills are in a position to ask for a higher salary. Never settle or you will end up like most people who can never earn a higher amount.
