UPDATES:

MANAGED TO BUILD A NEW RIG. SEE ON THE SIDES>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

TOTAL DAMAGE: $780(PC) + $199(23" MONITOR) + $29(PROLINK WIRELESS KB N MSE) + $49(CREATIVE HD 720P WEBCAM)

Hi to all,

need your advice on suggestion to get a new rig.

my requirements:

- preferably to have usb 3 support
- would want to salvage my gfx(xfx 5770), wd blue 500 gb hdd, andyson g530 psu
- want to use wireless mouse & KB( want to cut down on wires!!!)
- rig needed to support d3 kinda games, videochat, browsing etc
- don't OC components

Proposed build(based on price availability from sls pricelists):

Asus H81m-a with i5 4570 $317(tradepac)
g skill DDR3 8gb $95 (bizgram)
samsung 24x dvdrw $21(tradepac)
crucial m500 240gb $215 (pc themes)
sharkoon rex 3 $69(tradepac)
win 7 pro $175 (cashtronic)
dell 2340L $235 (bizgram)
logitech mk220 $25 (tradepac)

total: $1152

concerns:

- would my existing psu support the components?
- better to get ssd on amazon(samsung pro ssd 240gb <$190) instead due to lower price?
- any better components to replace those in the build for similar price point?

Would also consider other proposals for the build preferably within $1k budget.
Thanks in advance for all your advice!;)

Is best for you to start from scratch. The pc is not worth upgrading.

Only the HP DVDRW can be reused.
Get SSD instead of HDD for OS drive.

Most likely I'll be keeping the gfx and hdd if the new rig... Might consider putting in a SSD as suggested for the is boot and use the ide one for storage etc.

Ide is not worth using le. Even with adapter. Furthermore i believe your dvd and hdd all not even sata connections.

Basically just buy new ones. Dvd drive now $21 only. Plus hdd 1tb $76.

State your budget including a monitor. So that we can help you further.

i'm guessing my chassis should be able to hold either atx or matx mobos... as for the ssd, would it make big difference on operations between the various models/brands?

Cant answer ur qn for ssd as i dun use it.. However ur casing is mid tower so both atx and matx can fit. The h81m is matx

Doesn't matter too much what ssd u use. As long as its an ssd, it will be awesome. I have a samung 840pro amazon set. got it when it was only 189usd and its great.

btw, can i know if there is such a thing as pci card that has usb 3.0 ports?
i've seen a few pcie types but not for pci...am thinking of adding usb 3.0 ports to my chassis and preferably try access them from the front rather than at the back....perhaps similar to the "chassis fan control module" type..

No such thing.. No one would bother to mix old tech with new tech. PCIe is for the back, not front. Coz it will give u usb3.0 ports, similar to rear i/o.

Yes pci usb3 card exists Newegg.ca - Koutech 2-Port SuperSpeed USB 3.0 PCI Card Model IO-PU230

Take note it will probably clog the bus bandwidth when using high speed devices simultaneously.

Oh, another thing mr shadow, here is a pcie card for additional front panel headers

http://amzn.com/B007SJGGAE

There are numerous others in amazon if only you willing to search.
