NEED ADVICES URGENTLY

Hi, ok so I didn’t do well for my O levels and I enrolled in ITE Central for Higher Nitec course. However, fourth day of orientation , the section head dismissed me because I declared that I had clinical depression. Tried to appeal but to no valid.

I’m currently thinking to enroll into SIMGE International Foundation Programme awarded by University of London, afterwhich I’ll go for Bachelor in Science in International Relations.

I do initially plan to go for social work but the application has closed and only have to wait till next year .

Other consideration is PSB/MDIS .

Any advice would greatly help me ..
I’m struggling so much to decide.

Good choice on SIM. However you should declare your medical condition to SIM so that you can receive counselling and support during your studies at SIM.

As the course is rather rigorous, they might schedule an interview with you first before offering you the course.

As to why ITE dismissed you remains an enigma to me. From my POV, it seems to be rather unprofessional of them to do so as they could have sent you for counselling and see if you are suitable for the programme.

Most importantly, you have to pick yourself up and recover from it. All the best TS.
( if you are a guy, there will be even more hurdles to overcome, but worry about that later)

Ya it is quite rude for ITE to dismiss TS due to his/her depression. So much for being a local govt tertiary institute yet cannot help out its students. I heard of past cases too whereby NUS also dismiss students due to some illness, tho I also heard of some who got admitted in, however I not sure if these latter group of students declare their illness during admission. Nevertheless, if SIM, a private entity institute can accept TS application, that says alot about the difference.

Sigh, i wish they were more understanding and willing to help.

Don’t worry, you’ll get in if you have medical proof that you are able to cope well through the course.

Counselling and Support will be there for u at Sim. Rest assured that if you meet the General Entrance Requirement for the IFS programme, you’ll get in after you go through the interview with the programme head, Dr Zhang.

Everyone has once fallen into depression before. But it’s the severity on how it affects your day to day activities.

Perhaps they made a good choice to get you out of the system since ITE can get rather rowdy at times u know and might not be benefiting for your medical condition. God has a better plan for you.

I think its great how you are still moving forward in life despite being depressed and getting such an unfair treatment. I know many people who would have given up for a short while before carrying on. Jiayou TS!

I applied early childhood as that’s the only course I have interest in. Yes I did declare clinical depression on the form of declaration. I even went to student service center (counseling center) to declare .

I couldn’t go poly and the only route was Social Service Insititue but the application has closed .
I was planning to go SUSS but they only accept local poly cert

For PSB, will be their cert in business then dip in hospitality and tourism and lastly their bachelor to hospitality and tourism.

For MDIS, will be dip in foundation in psychology , advance cert in psychology and lastly , bachelor in psychology .


On the side note , I’m very weak in math this I’m just worried that I won’t cope well for SIM . The modules there all is mathematical kind.

If TS takes Sim diploma he has to go through the management foundation studies first before proceeding on to SIM diploma then finally UOL degree.

No idea if the total course duration is the same as those who take the IFS and then go for the bachelor degree.
