May I know if it's advisable to purchase from Taobao for both CPU / MOBO?

if u are able to find a shop that is both reasonable in price and also supports taobao official air shipping. not only will air shipping be faster, but u also dont have to pay gst. i would advise that u get the 4000 series ryzens so u dont have to deal with dedicated gpu prices; not to say that they arent affected but the markup compared to prior to this madness is a lot less than gpus.

Motherboard best buy locally, if any issue which may happened you can RMA/Service locally during 3 years period.
Taobao one there may or not be any warranty claim so pros and cons beside cheap price.

As what techidiot highlighted - I will consider whether worth that $150. i just worry the interface might be different from local as they might be in Chinese, especially the power? will check again. CPUs don't have a interface. FYI Chinese boxed CPU just have the words outside printed Chinese. Inside is the same as anywhere else.

Motherboard BIOS have interface. Maybe Chinese set will default to Chinese. But if your Chinese is good enough to buy on Taobao then it is good enough to change the settings to English.

Don't have some silly thinking that everything from China means is fake or bad. Read the shop reviews, check how long the shop has been around, talk to the shop owner ask them is it 全新未拆封 or 拆机, most of them are very responsive. All this info is available on Taobao. Chinese themselves also know how to choose legit goods and not get cheated. Same for Shopee, you can always read reviews and shop info. Don't have some old uncle thinking suspicious of everything and use the tools you have now to help you make a wise decision.

Disclosure: I myself bought 3 ryzen 5000 CPUs from different shops on Taobao and never had an issue with it. Later on I sold them cos switch to Intel and my buyers also never had an issue with it. I never buy mobo on Taobao before, because I found that for mobo, actually Taobao tend to be more expensive for the higher end mobos, esp standalone. For low to mid end, I think is fine, but if is same price, I prefer Amazon or local retailers via Shopee (many of the SLS shops also sell on Shopee). Have also bought 2 different CPU cases/chassis from Aigo, Jonsbo, AIO from Jonsbo, AsRock Deskmini chassis with custom powerblock etc all no problem. The shop I bought Jonsbo from, the owner even alerted me that I chose some incompatible components and let me cancel and re-order the correct items, not once but two times. Way more respectable than what I can say for some unscrupulous local SLS retailers.

P.s. for power supply it is one thing I will suggest get local better. Simple reason is most PSU you are familiar with e.g. Corsair, Cooler Master, are not much cheaper on Taobao and can even be more expensive. But if you want to get from Taobao, just ask them whether it support 240V AC input. Additionally you will need to get ready a UK 3-pin cable or adapter as it ships with the standard China 3-pin plug.

cpu is generally a safe part to buy online, not really heard of many cases where cpu fail and need to rma. i have also bought many cpus from taobao before (more than 40) to resell or for personal use, have received no problems thus far. motherboard wise is trickier since there is a real chance for it fail within 3 years, so is really up to u to decide if the savings is worth giving up the local warranty, which as u mentioned tends to be on the low side for premium motherboards. but generally what i notice is that with some motherboards, msi am4 ones especially, local prices can be so jacked up that with the current taobao 618 sale, i can snap up a brand new b550m mortar (one of the best matx b550 boards on the market) for just $120 with free shipping. meanwhile u cant get a local set b550m mortar for under $270, more than double the price. even for b450, i can get boards that are also half the price compared to when they were still available locally. which brings me to another point that u can get parts on taobao that arent available locally. psus and cases are great examples, and it is understandable that distros only bring in a rather limited selection as they are bulky to ship. this becomes less of a cost problem and more of a can local parts fit my needs well problem, but at least u now have the option to get ur hands on parts that allow u to make less compromises - especially true for small form factor pcs, where there is a much wider variety on taobao compared to local.

And ya man so many nice cases to buy on Taobao, from Aigo, Jonsbo, not to mentioned specialty brands like Aklla, Jonsplus etc

nah, this shop is under the free shipping above 299yuan promo, and yes that means free shipping even by air. even by sea also no gst.

Thanks! Just need the right answer. haha, if there's no issue then I do really consider getting items from taobao then pack everything to assemble here. Manage to check the rate of $60~$80. So I think it's reasonable - hopefully when the graphic price went down - will try my luck on Taobao / review.

Been using Taobao for many times, so will know where to look out - especially the feedback which is important. And surprisingly it's really cheaper a lot compare to local. but of cause before getting it - will look through again. Thanks.
