Need help choosing HDD/SSD

Hi guys,

i need some help in choosing a 1TB drive for my rig :/ as my harddisk tends to have some errors:/

seeing that they have so many types of hard disk on the market.. i am not too sure which harddisk should i go for. Need some advice and guidance on which hard disk should i go for! thanks

Any budget?

Generally if you using the HDD for boot disk, good starting point would be the WD Caviar Black 1TB, goes for around $110 iirc. 5 year warranty.

Otherwise the Caviar Blue works pretty good as well, sits between the Caviar Black and Green. It's a great drive for general use, goes for around $85? One drawback would be it's 3 year warranty i guess.

From what i heard Toshiba drives are also pretty decent, might want to check those out.

My WD Green 2TB has been dying one after another, now trying out Seagate.

WD Blue 1TB is a good choice. I am using 2 of them.

Hi guys from what I see. Is either blue/black but for what I see online in comparison there isn't much difference in real world performance for between blue and black? Would it be better if I have gone for blue and save up the rest for a future SSD upgrade ?

No Seagate for me. Had done too many RMA for customers and myself.

I would say WD Blue or Black. The actual performance doesn't really show.

Of course SSD would be the best bet.

Hi there currently seeing the Crucial m500 and m550 looking at the 480Gb and 500gb model. Also having a look at the samsung 840 500gb model. Which is more recommended may I ask?

The reason why I am seeing the m500 is the price lol... It's way cheaper compare to M550 and samsung 840. But is the performance a huge difference between the 3? I am doing some photo editing and video editing and play games more or less

Personally, I prefer Samsung. But SSD generally are very fast. The benchmarks maybe different among brands but it is not really noticeable in real life.

Normal usage you won't be able to differentiate from m500/m550 or Samsung unless you run benchmarks. But since you doing video editing as well, might be better to get the faster Samsung.

I have a quick question
As what I see online from amazon the samsung evo840 500gb is only 350 SGD plus shipment hence most likely will be getting that however, can someone explain to me what must I do if touch wood the SSD died :/
