Dear all,

I got an old Samsung Xpress M2885FW AIO printer. It is a Wireless Wifi 2.4Ghz printer.

It was working fine awhile back. The printer will be in sleep mode but when I need to print or scan something, it will wake up and then completes the task. After that, it will goes back to sleep.

As I don't print often, recently when I wanted to print something, I can send the job to the printer but the printer will not print. I tried the same for scanning also and it also doesn't "wake up" the printer.

Does any of you has similar problem?

Hope to find the solution here.

it could be the router or window update, normally i just reset...and it work again.
else i just connect the printer to router with usb and use the print server.

Reset? Reset which devices?

The reason why I got this printer is to be able to share it wirelessly to all devices on the network. So using USB cable will be kind of defeat the purpose right?

Google " windows 10 printer update "
Probably due to Win10 patch to fix print spooler exploit

- Install the driver again
https://support.hp.com/sg-en/driver...ter-series/16462721/model/16462723?sku=SS359Q
There is scan and print driver to install under Basic drivers.

Maybe Windows update affect the printer especially lately the printer spooler exploit.
So best to reinstall the driver see if it works.
If not on the printer itself, do a factory reset however once reset you have to reconfigure
it again.

A few weeks ago, my colleague was unable to print to HP Lan network printer in office.
So done the following:
1. restart desktop PC, still can't print
2. restart HP printer, still can't print
3. tested with my HP laptop, can print
4. delete printer from colleague desktop PC
5. after delete, unable to add back
6. so did Windows Update to latest patch and restart
7. added back printer successfully, can print too.

Yes. I setup the printer to link to my router again via Wifi. It will work initially. But if I try again the next day, then the printer cannot be activated from print or scan command anymore.

Printer is show as available. I can sent print job to it but the print job will not be able to wake the printer up.

if not software issue then i dunnoe liao.
my previous samsung is liddat.... i just connect to router via usb...... so the printer is 24/7 responsive to print job....
my suspect is the wifi on the printer is not working properly.

Yes. I did see this when I was trying to find the solution.

But seems like no specific solution that works.

So far, whatever I tried, will work for awhile, then the next day, it doesn't wake up the printer anymore.

Yes. Did that already. The printer will work for the same day that I set it up. But somehow, the next day, any print or scan commands will not "wake" the printer up liao.

Maybe you want to try this:

Since your printer is connected to the network already you can modify the setting from the SyncThru Web Service, you can open it from your computer on a Web browser by typing in the IP address assigned to the printer (ie. 192.168.xx.xxx), once you have the server open you will need to login

ID: admin

Password: sec00000

Then select settings > machine settings > turn the "wake up event" on > click on "apply" to save the change

Maybe you want to try factory reset if you have not done so.

You have to refer to the manual, such model which I have a similar model.
Is infuriating to setup, few things to take note:

1)Download the Canon app from playstore/itunes.

2)Connect to the printer own Wifi not your home Wifi.
Password just leave blank.

3)The app will take some time to scan for the printer than wait for
the printer to show up or guide to setup printer to appear.

If all else fails use the URL in the quick start guide.
Think most like myself was confused with connecting the Wifi, while in fact
the printer have it's own Wifi that you must connect during setup.

Most consumer grade printer with wireless is flaky with sub-par connection. Even when you can connect, it may suddenly lose connection when you in need of a print. The wifi is good “enough” for direct connect to your mobile then print.

Next time just get one with ethernet network printing capability if you need printer sharing.

Chill, I also have the same experience with the stupid Canon E3470 printer.
When I brought, thought was easy to setup just use app to link up.
End up spend an hour trying to figure what is wrong.

Your printer model at least simple to get it resolve, mine is so tedious
have press this and hold this and that button on the printer itself.
Cannot use the software to correct only the app.
