Need Help to get my build.

hey guys. so this is my first build so i don't have any experience in building. all i gather is that it is probably easier to get the entire build done and tradeopac and ask for discount. now to the build. what i will mainly be using it for will be gaming. the thing is i need to be able run a video recording program and video processing program simultaneously. so the build needs to be powerful enough to run everything without gimping my gaming experience. budget is about 1.2k including monitor. not including keyboard. can get a slightly smaller hdd since i have multiple ext hdd that i can use. thanks for helping

your budget is very tight if you want a machine like that. you should look upwards of 2k for a probably competent one

thanks for the build. but i found that i have a spare monitor at home so i won't be needing one. also is it possible to have a build with a i7 core and maybe 16gb ram? budget is still 1.2k for everything.

If you are gaming on a single gpu then no difference but on dual gpu will be different thing as b85 offers x16 x4 configuration while z87 offers x16 x16, however since you are only going single gpu, b85 will be enough. Z87 also offer Cpu overclocking and raid functions which are not present in b85

not too sure about this but I'm gonna stick with one gnu probably since i don't exactly play crazy beautiful games. however i am probably going to try over clocking so would that make my z87 the better choice

If you gonna OC your cpu, you are gonna need a good cpu cooler. H80i, h100i, thermaltake 3.0 Pro/Extreme, Noctua D14/D15 at least.

Tbh that's your only choice and b85 killer by asrock. Only z87 can overclock Cpu and b85 killer is the only other exception too. But in the end is up to you whether you want z87 or b85, it's your money ma . Btw if you want to overclock, do rmb to get a k cpu

mainly dota2 but planning to get into more fps since this would be the first time in a long time going back to windows. maybe will get bf4 but definitely the system wouldn't need to be able to run like crzy graphics like crysis.

you would be absolutely right. first build and have no prior knowledge. Budget is have la. is just depend on how long i have to save before purchasing. cause currently in ns so saving up my allowance for this.

Haswell overclocking is slightly more involved compared to the Sandy/Ivy OCing with the multiplier and CPU voltage.

On top of that, significant OCing with Haswell either involves delidding or a golden chip (or is it golden thermal paste?) from the silicon lottery.

Overclocking simply results in the CPU running faster, beyond the official stated specs from Intel. YMMV.

Like what the guy below says, haswell will be better than the older gen and also much more heat will be generated, however do note that ocing does not improve gaming performance greatly since more of the work is done by the gpu, so maybe a few frames increase. Do also note the amount of frames your screen can handle, if not too much frames will cause screen tearing

If you are looking in an extra boost in FPS then you will be disappointed. You wont yield much FPS by overclocking your CPU. Is more on how much horsepower can your GPU get you to.

TBH, if dota 2 is a main game that you play, just by adding a GPU into the rig for just dota 2 is gonna be a bit overkill. Dota 2 was never a demanding game to begin with. Its not like at 60fps or more will give you crystal clear heroes or, eye popping defense tower etc.

If you are set to play other high end games like BF4/Titanfall/COD/Hitman/Crysis 3 etc. Then you will need more money on the GPU. CPU is secondary nowadays.

Even with OC at 4.6ghz, im not getting more fps that i want. Probably just a mere extra 5fps?
