The configuration of the radiator fans as intake is just plain wrong, period. The radiator is supposed to be warm/hot, as that is where the heat from your CPU is being transferred to by the coolant. You should be expelling the air passing through the radiator outwards, not inwards. You are not only recirculating the hot air in your case, you are now even adding more hot air into it. Whether your HDD overheats or not, this setup is just wrong.

Yes. But in theory. To test this, I switched the radiator to be exhaust and left it overnight. Now (at 8am), my HDD is still 55C idle.

Your front intake fan is useless, change it to 2x 1850rpm Gentle Typhoon ones and post back the temperature.

Yea. I think so but I don't wanna spend $$ on the fans unless really necessary. It might be the case after all. So what I testing now is open up my side panel and put my rig at a more open area and see how. If still above 50C, I think the case design.. just plainly sucks... :S

Most of the times, default fans that come with casing are not pushing enough air in/out. So owners need to cough out money to swap to better fan like Gentle Typhoon. The same with my Lian Li casings.

Another alternative w/o changing casing is to install HDD cooler on the PCB side to cool them.

Thought of that but no space.. the gaps between the floor to ceiling of the HDD cage is less than 1 cm with 3 X 3.5 HDDs.. I just took the hottest HDD out and rest it just outside the caging while the computer is on. Temps is now 47C (acceptable).

but I though that someone did mentioned b4 that Hitachi drive can be quite hot. (or maybe Toshiba?)
but could the HDD be affected by the air circulation in your case? since u have 3x 3.5 in it. (space enclosed might be quite tight?) btw is your X and Y drive also together with this hot HDD?

But HDD by default is passive cool ma. Many cases designed without having much active cooling for HDD also. Reach so high temp a bit weird leh for this case. Maybe as what ZrE0_Cha0s said, Hitachi run hotter than others?

Also, what's the temps for the others HDD? All equally high or just the HGST one?

I have Toshiba, WD and HGST. WD is the coolest but still can go 50C since it's sandwiched by the hotter ones. Hottest HGST (also closest to GPU) at 57C, then Toshiba at 51C, then WD at 50C. Toshiba and WD should be comparable.

HGST highest could also be due to the fact that it's very close to the GPU. Like maybe less than 1 or 2 cm just below and when gaming, the heat just radiates around to other components.

Going forward, you should be looking for a replacement casing.

F me.. I just got this Rig last month.. LOLOL

You try this yet?

Yea.. I literally put the hottest HDD (HSGT at peak 63C) on the floor.. the rest still in cage.. with the side casing opened. Idle temps now 49C for Toshiba, 40C for WD and 48C for HSGT. Guess the HDDs esp Toshiba and HSGT are hot to begin with.

Read their manufacture sheet and their operating temps up to 55C (Toshiba) and 60C (HSGT).

You can always rig an 80mm fan or so inside the case to blow at the fans if you've space

Oh ya.. they include that tiny fan...
And i meant to say HDD, not blow at the fans.

Btw, ultimately you'll need to solve the airflow in your case

Possible to mount a 80/90mm fan outside as exhaust?
