In this case, then yup core count is better for V-Ray. To maximise performance per dollar spent, u might wanna look at the second-hand market. A Ryzen 1800X/1700X/1700 will be a better choice than a first-hand 2600 if u can bargain to a price that u think is acceptable. 2 extra cores will lead to better rendering times in VRay.

I just hooted AMD Ryzen 7 1700X for just $245 after $20 discount from Amazon Prime Now :s13:

Is there cooler bundled for X series?

Nope. 1700X and 1800X no bundled AMD stock cooler.

Just get a cheapo air or water cooler will do to keep costs down. Rendering on VRay will prob be the most intensive task, so as long as there is adequate airflow to the CPU cooler area, the 1700X shld be able to sustain the boost clocks. Other than that the 1700X is prob not gonna be taxed so often.

I actually do have a spare Wraith Stealth from my own Ryzen 5 1600. Still adequate to cool this Ryzen 7 despite TDP at 95W?

Will I need to take back this Stealth cooler if I ever need to RMA my Ryzen 5 1600?

Anyway, the price is S$158.99 for G.Skill Ripjaws V DDR4-3000 cl 16 from Newegg. Worth paying more for local warranty though.

Quite sure that memory scales with Ryzen 1. Not sure about your software so maybe it has its quirks.

In any case, good price for that 1700X. :)

U can try with this Wraith Stealth cooler first. If u dont like the performance then can buy an aftermarket one. Rather than buy first then realise white elephant coz the stealth is enough. Remember TDP figures are only estimated numbers not considering the personal preference of individuals. Some dun mind their PCs sounding like a jet taking off, some want their PCs to be whisper quiet.

I dun think AMD need cooler for RMA ba. Intel side dun need, so I dun see why AMD will require that for RMA process.

If you need to do intensive things on 3ds max, a quadro card can be found cheaply on ebay.

That said do consider upping your ram to 16GB when you spot cheap deals.

Overall GREAT choice of parts. Shd be adequate for your needs for many years.

Hi so sorry. My memory failed badly. :o

Some of the parts were unused and repurposed for this new PC. Hence we are not looking at drastic changes.

Oh and current config is at 16GB RAM. 1 stick 8GB was repurposed for this and currently bought another identical stick to make up 16GB. :)
