Hi TS your internet speed is not determined by sata port connections. In your setup it seems only 2 out of the 6 sata ports are in used and I assumed that your primary device is a hard disk running at sata 2 speed given the age OS together with the disk. Monkeyface is suggesting you to relocate the 2 inserted sata ports (Sata 3_A1 and Sata 3_A2) into the black slots located under the graphics card which is operating on native intel sata controller which improves performance over the asmedia. Technically you could also connect to the grey ports operaing at sata 3 speed however there wouldnt be any significant speed gain. Kinda curious do you actually overclock or intend to mount several storage disk as I personally I do find that B75 chipset has enough sata ports for non overclockers?

Connecting the odd to the asmedia sata port is not wrong, you just need to install the asmedia driver and your odd should work.

Connection to the 3rd-party controller is not recommended due to longer latency and driver woes. He would have eliminate all possible connection issue simply by connecting the data cables to the Intel ones.

Just reconnect the SATA data cables to the Intel ones la...

And turn on SMART status which will be very useful for troubleshooting.

I support "MoneyFace =p"'s recommendation.

Seeing that your screenshots indicate that your mobo has SATA-6G (aka SATA3) on Intel, try to use that.

But for optical drives like DVD-ROM, it is not really necessary to use SATA-6G. Save that for your SSDs/HDD. Use SATA-3G (aka SATA2) for your optical drive.

And avoid using the non-Intel SATA ports unless u got to plug in many SSD/HDDs.

TS, I second that.

Tradepac did a piss-poor job of your cable connections and management (or lack thereof). Your casing probably didn't help matters but it's no excuse for the mess. Your problems that keep popping up stem from the poor assembly and setup process.

Bring it to Nigel and get him to help you rewire your rig. Just get him a Coke or Bandung from next door in appreciation.

Might be a redundant solution.
TS maybe could try reinstalling XP all over, after that, reinstalling the drivers one by one using the CD provided by ASrock.
Maybe could solve your problems,

This is troublesome, and your settings for your previous XP are all gone.

Edit:
Btw, your PSU has good cable sleeves.
If cable management is properly done, your ventilation will be very good
