The SPF & SCDF requirement for SO is a degree. By the time male applicants apply for this job mean they have already finish their NSF.
On another hand, SPF & SCDF JO seem to have a bond because majorly of male applicants have not serve NSF yet. If male applicants have already serve their NSF, there will be no bond.
Of course, scholarship is another thing.

Hey i’m currently in firefighter and posted to station already. Just asking i accidently hurt my back when doing the btm. I went to poly and they give a muscle relaxant for my back but it does not help. So i then went to a chiropractic and the doctor said that my spine bone L5 was missalign thats the reason of back pain. I went for 3 session but still feel pain. I don’t want to further injure my back what should i do? Should i get a down pes cuz the doctor recommend not to carry heavy object. And if i were to downpes how do i do it?
Go to MO.
If down pes, you might post to other vocation. Anyway you should get advice from your officer in charge

Firstly, chiropractor is not a medical doctor, regardless of how much they wish to be called doctor. Secondly, i believe you should know chiropractor is not covered by 11b right, since you would have paid for it, precisely also cause they are not medical doctor.
If you really want to get better, go see a orthopaedic specialist. get referral from MO or Polyclinic doctor.
If what happened to you warrants a downgrade, you have to go this path. chiropractor doesn't have the power over such thing.

I am from SCDF but I won't be biased. Ultimately, we are ONE Home Team.
My best advice is if you have a high heat endurance, go for SCDF. Day-to-Day operations are much more interesting than SPF. You'll respond to a myriad of cases that makes your life and career more interesting.
Of course, SCDF training is way way way tougher than SPF in terms of the physical aspect. Endurance Training, Breathing Apparatus Proficiency Test, Heat and Humidity Test, and countless of exercises (i.e. High Rise Fire exercise, Basement Fire exercise, Ship Fire exercise, Hazmat Incident exercise etc just to name a few. But of course, the end result will be so worthwhile once you are posted to a fire station.
So its up to you, unless you are very fit and mentally strong, you may want to try SPF instead.
Whatever surgery you are currently undergoing, complete it first. Don't risk your health for this vocation. Its a life-saving vocation that involves the public. So if you are risking yourself during operations, you are risking their lives too.
My advice: Tell your RC or OC about your case. If you want to down-PES, you will have to go for a Medical Review first. So once approved, you will either be posted to other Vocations or be tasked for admin duties in your FS. But once you informed your RC/OC, most likely you will be put to admin in FS.

Hey man i’m currently now a ld for 2 weeks. I went to poly for a xray and they say that my spine was okay but my left paravertebral was bulky might be muscle sprain. They also gave me a referral letter to go meet an orthopeadic. Should i just go see the orthopaedic or not? Before my light duty i tried carrying the equipments and whenever i carried the equipments i felt a tense pull and pain on my lower back.

Btw I just wanna know, as I did not turn up for ICT last year. But I have a memo from a doctor due to my ligament tear. I have yet to go for surgery due to financial issues. If I were to give my doctor memo to the Charge Officer, will they excuse me for being charged.? And will the Charge Officer go into further investigation on my memo whether isit fraud or legit.?

I got my result for my mri. It says i have disc bulging at my L4 L5 associated with a lateral recess and foramial stenosis.

Unlikely, I've got friends as EMT and they didn't change the station they are posted to. At the very least they get deployed to be based at fire posts within the station's area of operations.

Hi i am an undergraduate that has 2 years left till graduation. I just wanna ask if an undergrad applicant will be taken under consideration or do i need to attain my degree before they even bother processing my application? (Direct Lieutenant)
also, is it a must that i have completed NS with pes A/B to stand a chance of getting shortlisted? is it possible for someone who had completed ns with a lower pes but after which upgraded to apply for the said position in the force?
