Hi guys, im gonna do a upgrade of my PC but i've been out of the tech game for too long.

Current build:

Case: NZXT s340 white

Motherboard: Z77A-G43

Processor: Intel i5-3570

CPU cooler: Cooler master Hyper 212 EVO

SSD: Samsung 840 EVO

Graphic card: Powercolor R9 280X Should be changing to EVGA FTW gaming 1070 from amazon @ $439USD

Power supply: Seasonic bronze 600w Should be changing to EVGA supernova 650 GOLD G1. $79.99 on amazon

RAM: Kingston hyper-x ddr 3 16GB

Monitor: 2X Dell U2417H Changing to 34" monitor, most likely X34P when its out.

No need for WIFI.

Mouse: Deathadder 2013
Keyboard: Blackwidow ultimate 2013
Speakers: Klipsch promedia 2.1

Things in red are thing i want to change. I mostly do casual gaming, occasionally play top titles (AC/Fallout/COD) when they are released but im not a competitive gamer or need extreme performance(dont need things like SLI,X99 chipset etetc). I dont do overclocking. I dont mind buying things from amazon if its a good deal.

I need a sensible and most bang for buck build from experts in HWC. Please provide me with feedback and comments for my next build!

Yeah 1070 should be fine for you since you going 1440p.
But CPU may or may not bottle neck.

Saw a palit 1070 deal going on now @ $555. Super tempting.

CPU + MOBO, I suggest you tong until 2017.
AMD Zen coming out = Intel need to up their game to counter.
Therefore we should expect more performance boost in AMD Zen and Kaby Lake.

:( every year new series can't keep up leh.

MSI b150m looks popular.
But is a b150 chipset worth the money? Was hoping for a h170 recommendation

look at my build >>>>

spent around 1.2k minus gpu, 840 evo ssd, monitor, speakers, mouse, keyboard, OS
my psu overkill though, 600W is enough

playing paragon,overwatch @ epic settings 144hz no problem, but 1080p only :s13::s13:

is there any reasons why u want a h170 board? like are u going to add more other cards like sound card, usb ports etc?

From the Intel website, b150 is more business orientated? No idea man, I generally have the impression that, z and h series chipset is more for consumer and have better features.

well yes b150 is more business orientated, but i believe u wont be bother with those right?

maybe u can crossref this comparison, basically its abit more lane and usb and a few features not in b150 but other features do u need?

no, i just went overkill for my rig :s13::s13: cause ram and psu are from amazon, around $250 for both, i can get something of a lower spec but same price in sls, might as well get the higher spec from amazon:s22::s22:

anyway TS,i think u are like me just a casual gamer who play cs, overwatch etc.
just get a B150 board + CPU i5 6500
as for ram it is really up to u (16gb is more than enough) if u want to reuse or change to ddr4
but make sure the mobo can support can liao, my mobo on right has the ddr3 version

as for whether b150 is worth the $, well i asked one of the PC part sellers and told him my purpose for the PC(to play games) he said just get the b150 mobo, save $

lol, well its indeed overkill but at least for future if u upgrading rig at least its useful as well as u can get SLI mode and OC ram.
