Paiseh ah I'm a noob but is this scenario something that was out of the realm of possibility? If not how could there nv be geologists who could have anticipated this and subsequently worked with authorities to undertake precaution measures?

Not surprised

flash flood, landslide, avalanche, earthquake… many things have no warning at all. Or sometimes there is a short time possible but enough to give some time to go for safety

last time there was a case in usa where the flash flood lead to many camping students missing. A siren system was in discussion earlier but due to the expensive cost, it was blocked by a vote. The local tax paying community that voted against it must have regreted big time
i think recently is it in china also something liked this or that is usa news?
the authorities said to disperse but the camp owner did nothing

The flood water travelled some 72 km from the glacier on higher ground before reaching the Nepal/tibet border but no one was alerted ? Satellites never captured the image of such strong flow of water?

News reported the mudflow was travelling at 400km/h? The lump of glacier estimated dropped from 5200m attitude, the china border custom building was at 1800+m attitude. Any flood warning systems will be swept away before got time to sound alert.

The dam that the korean was building in nepal was 30+ km downstream of the custom building still overwhelmed by sheer volume of mudflow.

If they gonna dig and clear, they gonna need alot of manpower. o_O

I'm not sure if its even feasible or meaningful to dig. The rescuers are there to save those who survived. For the remaining buried deep under, more likely put up a memorial plaque in memory of them.

If you go for the Langtang valley trek, you need to take jeep from Kathmandu to Syabrubesi in Rasuwa district where the trek starts. And the road runs along the river that got smashed by the flash flood.
I'm guessing the sinkies and tourists were there to do this or other treks, this being one of the more popular.

quite an informative video. It says got 7mins between the glacier drop to the timing which the CCTV capture the flash flood at the Gyirong border port.

based on the terrain may i ask 7 mins can run where?
I agree basically is waiting to die as no where to run in the valley. Saw a separate video saying the flood travel about 20km++ before hitting the port. So estimate speed the flood was travelling apprx 170-200kph

9 singaporeans and i think singaporeans not many will fill up forms to inform whereabout despite them (me no time to travel) loving travelling.... so actually is fill up better
in case any disruption etc, the govt also can help

Temper your expectations. SG Govt help historically is just coordinating emails / calls from their office.
Don't expect any physical help. It's why many people don't bother filling up also cos practically no use.
