Those in china border station have lost contact.
Think the initial video at the border like alot of people. That force of impact from that height building also cannot survive, people can survive one think quite minimal. Even if survive the initial hit, think also cannot survive the tons of mud. That amount looks like can cover few storeys high.

SG also near a few Tetonic plate. If one day we kena a tsunami, I think only bukit timah safe. Imagine that kind of waves crashing into east coast and making roads inland
Dun forget about the building that collapse in Bangkok killing hundreds

if didn’t ensure basic safety measures, there is still a rare chance that locations away from the plate can still be affected

You need to find the real-time aggregated news on X.com.
It has nothing to do with dams. The area is also known to be earthquake prone, so dams are not built here.

By the way, China just started live monitoring.

This is a very remote/isolated area.

this thread is good. can see a lot of further info i missed out on.

wah this is mission impossible

needs to dig to concrete/road level to find the missing ppl

those swept into the river or mud will be even more difficult to recover

More than that. I predict tens of thousands. Chinese tourist are there in the border town. They mobilise china premier to the site. Other flood this year they haven't send any such a big shots to that area

I have to watch Fox News for Nepal news updates, it’s ridiculous considering it’s China ccp area and China is not even taking this seriously
Nepali Govt already warned the people to evacuate but they didn't listened. Still want to blame China for everything?

When the flood reached Trishuli Bazaar, people were waiting around like this to watch the flood. Meanwhile, when the media asked today, locals said that the government had informed them half an hour in advance through SMS and ringtones, etc. But most didn't believe it, saying, "Look, it won't come this way." And then the flood came, and now Trishuli Bazaar itself is gone.

the avalanche must have been huge to displace the water that way with such force. Some article mentioned above 100km/h?
Amdk geologists estimated from satellite images a 610m chunk of glacier ice at about 5200m attitude dropped few thuosand meters to bottom of valley. It was that chuck of ice hitting the bottom of valley registered 5.2 magnitude tremor. North korea underground nuclear weapon chibaboom only how many magnitude.

I guess that there could be some major construction of tunnels and hydropower at that areas.

could be they over dam and overbuild the area causing glacier displacement. If so, they owe the thousands of people who died an explanation why there’s no warning

Make me wonder is there a dam that suppose to restrict the water/flood from flowing in and could have damaged after the landslide

That time Genting Midhill landslide which is more mild already killed several students and teachers

This one so huge and the damaged and death likely to be more
There is no dam or hydropower plants along that section of river along the china border? All the hydropower plants are in the nepal side.

Put early warning system and evacuation away from path of water. There's a distance between the avalanche and the town.

a better way is to train a satellite at the area 24/7, if any glacier break, Ccp will have enough time to informed Nepal that water is coming
That area is alway cloudy. Even if clear weather also cannot out run the mud flow. The flash flood took only about 7 minutes from registered as tremor to buried the china border crossing custom building.

ccp need to deploy more troops and airborne forces to search and rescue. If not enough should ask for help from sg or other regional countries
All the roads and bridges leading to the china side of the disaster area got destroyed or damaged. They also cannot go in fast to rescue people, other countries send people in will just use resources at the disaster sites cannot help much.
