After a few weeks, it will just makes no sense to continue digging when you look at the amount of mud and rocks that engulfed the path and destroying even a tall concrete building like toy. Those missing will unfortunately have to be assumed dead unless evidence suggests otherwise

Did MFA publish their names? Or MSM?

Idk, if got this type of dia-ji, follow the official protocol. If MFA publish, then they (got balls) can go ask on the MFA channels/feedback etc. If Yam publish, then what Yam expect? Just piled on a bit more on their families. He checked if those comments are from SGans? Or some fake bot ?

To be honest, any one can comment.
Cannot really assume that all of them are sinkies.

ST has published the names: Estee Loeh, Ghosh Aditi, Ng Kit Kuen, Rajesvaran Ayyavoo, Rengarajan Prabu, Shalinny Deavy Elan Sozan, Shubakshi Rawla, Subramaniam Diraviam and Sumit Rawla.

Alex Yam should ask himself what makes people question who are Singaporean.

From Articles

Marsiling-Yew Tee GRC Member of Parliament (MP) and Mayor of the North-West district Alex Yam has called out comments questioning the nationality of the nine Singaporeans who remain missing after the Nepal floods, describing the comments as "racist" and "heartless".

'Loud minority'
Comments questioning the nationality of the nine missing Singaporeans have been left on social media posts about the news.

Such comments have appeared on platforms such as Facebook and TikTok.

an Aug. 31 Facebook post, Yam listed the names of the nine missing Singaporeans, writing that "nine of our own" remain missing among the thousands still unaccounted for.

"A terrible tragedy. But scrolling through the comments, I found something else equally difficult to stomach," Yam wrote.

He went to quote some of the comments, which include, "they don't look Singaporean", or "just import more".

"While families wait desperately for news of their loved ones, a loud minority of people apparently looked at the names and faces of those missing and decided that this was the moment to ask whether they were really Singaporean," he continued.

Some comments went as far as hoping that "people remain stranded or die" or questioning why Singaporean authorities should help, according to Yam.

end

He should come EDMW, there is alot more here
No lah, here is family friendly leh

I agree with Alex Yam, but this just looks like virtue signaling from a politician.
I wasn't even aware of the comments until this clown highlighted it.

First of all, we are not racist.

Singaporeans have no issues with tourists of all nationality coming into Singapore for holidays. Singaporeans have no issues going to foreign countries and respecting the nationalities there.

Singaporeans however are discontent and outrage at the incumbent's policy of granting 25,000 new Citizenships and 35,000PR on an annual basis on the pretense that Singapore needs manpower when born and bred Singaporean graduates can't find jobs and our own citizens are being laid off.

Every year MOE spends $238 Million on Scholarships and tuition grants to international students. Instead of helping our own we are helping other nationalities solve their unemployment problems and education needs.

Born and bred Singaporeans have their roots sunk in Singapore.

As it turns out the 2 most spoke about individuals, got their Singapore Citizenship and now gotten their Canadian PR. We are like a springboard for foreigners who enjoy reaping the benefits our passport has to offer to open the doors they need to serve their own self interest.

Yes it is unfortunate what happened to the "Singaporeans" as what Alex proclaims. Do I empathise with their 2 daughters, as a parent myself, yes I do.

Instead of painting born and bred Singaporeans with a tainted brush, understand why they are questioning their true identities.

For Alex to say we are racist would be us hating or making racial slurs on all nationalities both domestic and abroad.

We are not racist. We are sick and tired of immigration policies that disparage born and bred Singaporeans.

I agree the comment shouldn't post online but it just show how disapproval are singaporeans (aside from 65%) on foreigner/immigration policy. Its been so long where singaporean felt demoralised for prioritising NC or PR over local. Study damn hard, endless tuitions, squeeze into top uni but livelihood still lose out to them. Many NC/PR can't even speak good English and uni from 1000+ ranking displacing locals esp middle age. Of course they buay song and threw the discontent at the 9 missing 1st hand. Anyway AMTF to the 9 and hope they are found safe. How about AMTF to locals too, who lose their livelihood who got displaced by them?

Put aside tfr, that's cause and effect and later blame sinkies not giving birth. No discussing

he should go and throw his fake outrage at the article that bluntly states that rescuers may not be able to tell they are sinkie also.

quote -
Given the scale and intensity of the tragedy, Bhatnagar and Abrol now worry that the Indian-origin Rawlas may mistakenly be labelled as Indian nationals if they are rescued in a condition where they are unable to speak and have no identification documents on them.

“Yet, the list (of those rescued) which is coming is saying, we have rescued so many Indians, so many Nepalis, but no Australian, zero Canadian, zero Singaporean,” noted Abrol.

Ppl not entitled to their views?
People who said they should "remain stranded or die" are heartless and racist. Period,

however he should not conflate and extend that to other things as that is mudslinging. Period.

anyway such threads has been deleted before so I see no point why is this being raised again.

Shouldn't SAF send help? Their soldiers are trapped in landslide.

Don't want to give the wrong impression that soldiers sent out during real war won't be recovered yea? :s8:
I think we should send help as long as Tibet and Nepal agrees

Nowadays it is very easy for people to just wantonly throw accusations of hate and haters. And most of the time, it can be traced back to the very people who made such comments.

Everyone should just keep things civil without resorting to such name calling especially when most of the time it lack basis right at the start.

Yes, those comments are uncalled for. But the fundamental thing is you need to question why on earth these comments are being made? What is the root cause? I guess they also already knew what is the root cause anyway

unsurprisingly MIW are just using their favourite strawman argument tactic to distract and avoid addressing real issues. zero in on extreme views and tar everyone with same brush

he probably need to ask himself, why nowadays, people have less tolerance on racist topic especially potential relating to certain group of people from a certain country.

For sure... yes... some of the comments are racists... some are downright inhuman and heartless...

He is right in calling out these pple...

But I also hope that the government can see that our society is getting more and more polarized... and there is a reason behind it... shutting it down as xenophobic and racists will not solve the problem... ignoring the problem or saying that these are minority will not solve it either... It will grow and it is growing... until the pressure finds its breaking point...
