You forget we are one of the only few countries to fly our people back from the middle east?

Of course this case can only wait, what other things can they do :o

It was a historical exception
ang moh countries chartering flights out is the norm
tia gong
At first tell them where to go / how to help themselves
but no face got pressured cos every other country was making arranging flights to fly their people out (and they even took Singaporeans too)
that's why splash newspaper big big that round

Bingo.....Apparently, something caused a glacier and its accompanying vegetation and mud to drop into a river. That glacier then became natural dam. Previous days saw rainfall as well.

When the gathered water became too much for the dam to tahan, it will burst and flood at crazy speeds.
It is all fated. Nothing much we can do when Mother Nature takes revenge against mankind

Whatever the death toll figures are reported, the actual number is likely to be many times of these official figures.

If you have been to such areas, you would have seen how the area is like. I believe there are many people not properly recorded in official govt records, undocumented people etc. There will be people living in ultra secluded areas, homeless people too. Especially on Nepal's side.

The extent of the damage means many many bodies will never be recovered, be it buried deep under all that silt and mud, or torn to pieces by the debris. That flow is full of debris, rock, stones, ice. It's like a washing machine filled with sand, that kind of abrasive power.

RIP.

The scale of this disaster is like - you imagine you are running away from bullets and bombs, but then you were hit by a nuclear bomb! instantly gone! :(

Current Casualty Breakdown
Reports from the South China Morning Post and local authorities indicate that over 1,200 people remain missing, including many international trekkers and pilgrims: [1, 2, 3]
  • Nepal: 469 deaths and at least 644 people missing.
  • China (Tibet Region): 3 deaths and 558 people missing

Disparity only in death numbers, not missing numbers. How they come up with these figures?

Casualties should be like the two sides of the same coin.
